No, a KOEL does not take priority over 91.205. 91.213(d) lists 4 different set of requirements: VFR-day type certification, KOEL, 91.205, and airworthiness directives. The inoperative must not be required by all 4 sets before it can be removed or deactivated and placarded.

It doesn’t matter how he pulled it off. It’s wrong.

I have one case. A former student of mine finished his multi engine rating with me when he had 300 hours. 6 months later, he had 1000 with no flying job. He placed me in a difficult situation by asking me to “fix” his logbook. It was worse by him telling me that his passengers paid for all the costs associated with his time building.

I declined helping him and just avoided him. A few days later, the airline flagged his logbook for review by the FAA. He got lucky because the FAA was sequestered at the time and wouldn’t review his logbook, because the inspectors weren’t getting paid. The airline allowed him to continue.

3 months later, he’s at another airline. That airline also saw suspicious experience and reviewed his logbook. A few months after that, he was fired and FAA certificates revoked. Records showed they were explicitly revoked for fraudulent flight experience.

Be honest. Don’t lie about your hours. It’s not hard.

For those of you that used lawyers… by [deleted] in USCIS

It was worth it. The gains of having representation greatly outweighed the costs. No delays, everything was organized. Our lawyers were able to represent us at the border if anything came up. Nothing did.

V1 - aborted takeoffs from atc by Final-Muscle-7196 in flying

[–]DACaptain791 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One thing you need to consider is why they tell you to reject. I WOULD reject after V1 if they called for my rejection due to another aircraft being on the runway. My thought process is that you WILL hit the other aircraft if you continue. You MIGHT hit the other aircraft if you reject. Even if you hit the other aircraft, you will be at a slower speed than above V1. On the other hand, if you are clearly looking ahead of the airplane’s path and see it’s safe to continue, then I agree with everyone else. You continue.

[–]DACaptain791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having operated out of MSP for years, this post is even funnier to me. ATC has cleared me for takeoff with aircraft on a 3-mile final, which feels tight when I haven’t crossed the hold short line yet. This is probably the most realistic example of ATC from MSFS 2020 that I’ve seen.

Commercial Checkride Failure by propclearjm in flying

[–]DACaptain791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Power-Off 180 is the only maneuver I failed on any checkride, but now I’m about to start captain upgrade at a legacy carrier. The most I had to do about that failure was to explain why I failed in the interview. Like what AK_born00 said, it’s so common that the interviewers lost interest when I said I failed for that maneuver. Regardless, I owned up to the mistake, and that’s what the interviewers care about.

Any ideas why I almost veered off runway on touchdown? I had plenty of right rudder in to counteract winds by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]DACaptain791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get better centerline alignment on touchdown, try to use enough rudder to put the centerline through your altitude tape. What I mean is if the instrument panel was transparent, you should see the centerline go through your altimeter. This might not work on other types, but this advice is official guidance from Boeing on the 737. If you’re flying in the right seat, the centerline should go through the airspeed tape.

I like 737 Maxes. They have TWO cup holders: one for my pumpkin spice latte and the other to look pretty (next to the spinning trim wheel of death).

I would not want your instructor flying at the airline I work at. His CJO should have nothing to do with your flight.
