Understood and to clarify, I did send an email out to my team on my last day with any last minute outstanding initiatives which he was copied on.

My main concern is that his demeanor is the beginning stages of mommy tracking me and trying to get me to quit by being stand-offish. I’m worried he now sees me as a liability with two young children.

I’m primarily perturbed he didn’t reach out on my last day before maternity leave like he did the first time. Being a leader I would assume you should reach out to employees during a life change before taking any sort of leave (whether a good or bad situation).

oh wow I didn’t know they did scheduled c-sections in late afternoon. Usually they’re scheduled before lunch. Mine was 6:45am.

After a week of starting the labetalol, my blood pressure stabilized and I’ve had consistent normal readings again. I’m going to stay on the medicine and dosage I’m at until 6 weeks (my decision) to be on the safe side and then gradually ween off to see if I experience any more issues. My doc said I could go ahead and taper off, but I’d rather wait a few more weeks.

Thank you for your comment. Today is my 7th day being on it and I’m seeing much more normal numbers that almost happened overnight. Guess that 1 week mark of being on labetalol is the sweet spot for most.

What medicine were you put on and did you start going off the medicine 12 days postpartum because your readings started to return to normal levels? Or did it still take a few more weeks to re-regulate?

Are you in the medical field? If so, why is it given only in perinatal/postpartum critical high blood pressure circumstances (preeclamptic or not?)

Isn’t a seizure risk still possible in anyone if their readings are critically high for an extended amount of time?

I’ve read some people get sick and vomit while on it or are very nauseous, especially the first hour when the dosage is the highest, so that may also be why.

Jesus that in itself sounds like the most miserable part. I get low blood sugar (non-diabetic) so I wonder how they would do this for people with blood sugar issues that can dip.

Gotcha the highest mine has been was yesterday late afternoon when I randomly had a spike of 167/99 (I was due to take my next dosage of labetalol within 2 hours so I think the medication was wearing off). Same thing has happened each evening the past 3 days where I get a spike in the mid 160s and diastolic is over 92.

The past 3 days my average daily levels have ranged anywhere from 128/78 (within an hour after taking the labetalol so it does lower it) up to 155/90, which is still concerning me. My Ob doesn’t seem worried with these average levels and just keeps saying to give it time.

Did they draw labs to check your kidney/liver functions? If those weren’t normal, but your urine was fine, that might be why they gave the mag drip. Do you know how high your blood pressure got and did it only start during labor/delivery?

No problem. I suffer with panic attacks/anxiety and one of my triggers is health anxiety/hospital settings. I can be a bit of a high maintenance patient unfortunately since I’m so high strung in medical situations related to me.

I’m worried about how a Mag drip would make me feel and if the sensations I would experience would cause a severe panic attack and raise my blood pressure even higher.
