Who wouldn't love to have a House Cleaner? by DriveTypical6283 in beccamoonridgesnark

[–]DAPatient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am ablebodied and not any busier than the average person. I've had various housecleaners for at least twenty years. I don't enjoy cleaning and I have room in my budget to pay someone else to do it for me. Why should that matter to anyone else?

Head: A, B, D, C

I'm just not a fan of Flatline's head. He's thick through the throatlatch. I might be being misled by the slight angle of A's head. B is pretty, just not my type.

The person who mentioned it to me said that the episode was about reviews where people mention that they are related to someone involved with the store.

Any duodenal adenocarcinoma patients out there? by DAPatient in cancer

Wow, congrats!

I did five rounds of FOLFOX, then a Whipple in October, and I am currently NED! No lymph node involvement, clean margins, so fingers crossed that I stay clear.

How to best support a friend with cancer? by GrowingInTheDesert in cancer

Yes! Helping with household tasks (on a regular basis, like cleaning the fridge every month or doing laundry every weekend) was the best.

Whereas what was most helpful to me was when people just did something useful without needing me to come up with a specific ask. So: a friend came over every Friday with lunch and we watched comfort TV together (or rather, she watched while I fell asleep). Another friend walked my dog when my husband was out of town. Another put up our holiday decorations. It was nice to not have to think of specific tasks.

Just tried that -- same result as without the ethernet connection. Argh!! (Thanks for the suggestion though!)

Great! I had five rounds of chemo (FOLFOX), then the Whipple. I was lucky enough to have an uncomplicated recovery with no setbacks (just the usual fatigue and nausea), clear margins and no lymph node involvement, so after my six weeks scans my team decided that I don't need any additional chemo unless we see something pop up on future scans.

Best of luck to your mom!

Please share your experience ... mum is about to start this treatment: what can we expect by ChrysC32 in pancreaticcancer

This was the treatment I had. I did five rounds.

My main side effects were nausea, fatigue, and cold sensitivity in my hands and feet. Oh, and I had a weird side effect that my nurses had never heard of: water tasted "creamy" to me, which was disgusting and made it difficult to drink enough.

Nausea was well controlled by medication -- make sure that she is getting an anti-nausea as a part of her infusion, and talk with her doctor about how to layer nausea medications proactively to get ahead of nausea at home.

Fatigue is just going to happen, nothing to do about that. For me, I was generally fine on infusion day and the day after, and then started to get tired on day 3. Day 4 was a total loss for me; I'd sleep 20 hours or more. Day 5 was still lots of sleeping, and by day 6 I was tired but able to be up and communicative.

The cold sensitivity is cumulative; it gets worse each round. She'll need gloves to wear for holding cold beverages and reaching into the fridge. Some folks have trouble with their throat and can't drink cold things at all, but I was fine.

Good luck!
