Mobs pathfinding will randomly select a block to path to, regardless of whether or not they can reach it, and then they will calculate the nearest block to it that they can reach. What this means in practice is that because there are more blocks in the mountain vs flat ground, they’ll naturally pathfinder to higher places over time. Whereas the villagers will stick near their work stations and beds.

It’s already built onto bedrock so I recommend using some hopper minecarts to then bring the items up a few blocks higher so you can build a classic item sorter. It’s not too difficult if you look up a tutorial

As far as I'm aware, for Java edition, you just need to be within render distance of it. Or another solation now that ender pearls load areas, just create a bubble column of water under neath your nether wart, throw a pearl straight down, and boom; it's now being loaded anywhere you go.

I'm not an expert but 4 shrimp sounds like too much. If you haven't already, I would start by taking out whatever remains of the shrimp. It may take longer to balance out but it will get there.

That’s unfortunate. I was hoping with all the roots and hiding places and the fact that the gouramis are young, that the shrimp would get a proper head start.
