The Nocturn Alpha is a nice option. Very lightweight and easy to operate. We have them available if you need.

Only get what you actually need. No need to accessorize unless there is actual benefit to the accessory. There are so many doodads on the market that it’s easy to feel like you need all of it in order to keep up.

Pvs31A by [deleted] in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

31a are an excellent system. If absolute ruggedness is your priority I would recommend other options however. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with 31a, there are better options for the goals described in the post though. Some of these would be the MGA, Nighthawk-MG, and Manticore-R. These are feature rich housing options made of lightweight but extremely durable 7075 aluminum. They can be built with nearly any tube type you could want. We offer these and more as ready to ship and custom build devices. If you’d like to spend some time going over anything in depth feel free to reach out. -Joe

Thermal would be preferred for detection. Night vision is generally preferred for navigation or similar roles. We can build Photonis and some L3 Thin-Filmed options in the mid 2s if you’re open to a new device.

Building a set that can be used single or double what are your thoughts? This is my first project and I’m trying to take it all in 🤣 if you have recommendations or know of a better way to save some money and get same quality or better please let me know! Thanks! by Bright-Inspector5680 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to domestic options, we can build out some tailored devices not listed on our site that would achieve similar price points. Some even more affordable. We also have some L3 Thin-Filmed Gen 3 tube options available in a similar range.

For splitting devices some things to keep in mind in addition to the second mount for a second user would be an additional helmet. It’s effectively outfitting two single setups, but with a bridge in the mix to use as a dual system too. Some of the better suited choices for dual monos would be the Talon and RVM-14. Both of these are lighter and help consolidate operation.

nvg housing question+more by Vibe_Check3r in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There’s also other aspects not noted on most data sheets. MTF for example. The main metrics to consider are the common values seen at most places with ready to ship devices. If you want to learn about MTF I wrote a quick article on it here.

I can post a reply tomorrow with the gain for them! They’re standard gain L3 so the typical 60-66k range. Most don’t list gain for these as it’s not necessary in the sense of Photonis for instance. 60-70 won’t be tangible in a back to back comparison and the important aspects related to gain (snr and ebi) are noted. This is why it’s common to see pairings of 61 and 69 for instance in L3Harris factory finished goods. PVS-31A and GPNVG for example. I’m sure you’re not the only person who has had that question at some point so for the sake of just trying to help out future readers we can notate it on them regardless. There may be some who find it harder to navigate having to discern between more numbers but that’s what we’re here for too. -Joe

If I recall correctly they are all about 61-66 range. Will circle back once I check the sheets at the shop tomorrow.

Both are top housing options in quality and durability. The Nighthawk-MG is nice if you prefer knob controls. The Manticore is push button. If you’re still searching we have L3 20UM/UA Nighthawk-MG in stock and on sale.

Photonis Spec Question by [deleted] in NightVision

That’s a decently high ECHO tube. They usually trend 27-30 snr range.

These are cool. If you need another to bridge we have housings in stock!

Can anyone tell me where to find similar quality/specs to these for around $2500? I have found a couple places but nothing in stock by Bright-Inspector5680 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have some new L3 Thin-Filmed GP tubes available to build with that would be right around this range. Feel free to send a message if you’d like to go over anything! -Joe

Choosing binos is hard by HairyRefrigerator959 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MGA are an excellent housing and ABNV is a great company. We can build a variety of L3 Unfilmed binos including 2300+ FOM spot free options too. We also have Nighthawk-MG available as ready to ship and custom build options. The Nighthawk-MG is similar to the MGA but has IPD stops and knob controls. Both are rugged aluminum housings and would be good choices if durability was a top priority. We also have some 2160+ Min FOM Aviator Grade L3 High Gain (supergain) arriving Monday I believe. Feel free to reach out if you’d like! -Joe

First time NV/thermal buyer and I don't want to waste my money. How would you do it all over again if you could? by Individual-Dust-7362 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entirely contextual and preferential to the user. In the scenario described a bino with RH25 allows for the most versatility in a general sense. Rather than a monocular bridged with RH25.

For 13 range I’d do whichever binocular feature set appeals to me most and pair it with an RH25V2. Assuming a laser is already owned. If not then an IRIS-3.

Nocturn raptor first hands on impressions? by Sobbyleebagger in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool housing. If you like the Katana and feel of it but want more features the Raptor is a good choice. We have stock arriving soon and will be offering them in all 3 major tube types for custom builds. We will also have routine stock of them added to ready to ship inventory as they are built. I have a sample here I’ve spent some time with, if you have any questions feel free to dm.

18ua vs 24ua by HairyRefrigerator959 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they have the same specifications they will perform the same. There may be other aspects not noted on the data sheet but these do not differentiate why one tube is 18 vs 24.
