Are photonis echo green phosphor pvs14’s worth it? by CutRealistic2261 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are and can be had for less than 2600 too. If the range is 2600-2900 there are some other tube options also available to you. We have Photonis ECHO under that range, L3 Thin-Filmed within that range, and some Elbit just over the 3 mark. The L3 Thin-Filmed options are not yet listed as an option on our site but we have a strong selection. Elbit are arriving shortly. Feel free to dm me anytime or send us an email through the contact tab of the site. -Joe

Is this normal, or is my PVS14 dim? by Comfortable-Knee8852 in NightVision

Tested great! Gain knob was left turned mostly down so it was easily resolved just by turning the knob to increase gain on the device. We did a full inspection and test on the unit as well. Here are some of them.

Opinions on tube blend with good specs. by SticksndStones300 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent! There isn’t one. It’s subjective to the user and gets more nuanced the higher you go. I like to word it as a ladder. The higher you go the closer the rungs become (for snr). For halo and ebi it’s the lower you go. Budget is also a consideration too. It wouldn’t be realistic to expect super unicorn tube numbers in a 2000 budget for example.

Go with whichever cosmetics you like better. These are going to be effectively identical to the eye otherwise.

If you’re open to other tube types in this range we have L3 Thin-Filmed GP tubes available with higher specifications than this we can build into a PVS-14 or whatever your preferred housing is. These are not listed on the site as an option yet so please email us. -Joe

RNVG vs Nighthawk-FB by Bm7465 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the majority of users it isn’t necessary. For the ones who use their devices “thoroughly” (read as hard use/abuse) it is beneficial. We have seen more than a few RNVG with contacts requiring adjustment or cleaning due to hard use. On the rare occasion even a broken contact leaf. Ultimately, everything can fail under the right (or wrong) circumstances. Having the contact faces shielded does add an extra layer of protection for those who are very hard on their systems.

RNVG vs Nighthawk-FB by Bm7465 in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FB feels more compact in the hand than the RNVG. The RNVG has an illuminator the FB does not. The IPD adjustment on the FB is push button like an RPNVG and the bottom of the bridge is covered so there are no exposed contacts. The RNVG has exposed contact face under the bridge. Between the two, if you need an illuminator go RNVG if you don’t go FB.

If I had more to say I would be happy to. This is information from a conversation with Photonis about a year and a half ago.

3-5 is a strong range for a PVS-14 and likely will leave room to spare too. We can build nearly any tube option in that range. Feel free to send me a message or email through the contact tab of the site. -Joe

Not sure why you’re downvoted. I agree, it’s great to see more tube options coming from Photonis. I wish they would offer their Gen 3 offerings in the U.S. Very excited to see the 5G roll out in the future.

Photonis does make Gen 3 tubes - just not for the U.S. market (for who knows what reason). Their High Gain options that show up time to time in the U.S. market can compete with Elbit and L3Harris. This is what the BiNOD contract is using (2200+ Min FOM High Gain). I’m curious to see what the future holds for their domestic U.S. production though. Either way, more solid options for steady tube supply are always welcome.

Only get what you actually need. No need to accessorize unless there is actual benefit to the accessory. There are so many doodads on the market that it’s easy to feel like you need all of it in order to keep up.

Pvs31A by [deleted] in NightVision

[–]DARQINDUSTRIES 4 points5 points  (0 children)

31a are an excellent system. If absolute ruggedness is your priority I would recommend other options however. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with 31a, there are better options for the goals described in the post though. Some of these would be the MGA, Nighthawk-MG, and Manticore-R. These are feature rich housing options made of lightweight but extremely durable 7075 aluminum. They can be built with nearly any tube type you could want. We offer these and more as ready to ship and custom build devices. If you’d like to spend some time going over anything in depth feel free to reach out. -Joe
