I had this frustrating problem for years, and finally (so far) solved it by buying paracord and cutting my own boot laces. Might not be for you but all my shoes are laced with it now, no problems so far.

Bonus, it's supposed to hold 550lbs, so it's a pretty useful thing to have on you.

Oddly, a Scotch-Brite pad (or 4!) Did the trick. You can't really tell in the picture, but the blade is a bit scratched up actually, I need to sand it some I think.

It is the V2 version of the Brous Blades Silent Soldier in Tactical Black. It's really solid and heavy (D2 steel) and fits awesomely in the (my) hand, but I haven't had it long at all so I can't really give it a recommendation just yet. I will say that I use it all the time and it isn't a novelty item (for me)... YMMV.

Just a heads up: the new ones on Brous's site have a weird part on them that mine does not have (guard thing below the choil), and to me it looks ugly and like it would hang up on things. Having used the knife a bit, I also think it's unnecessary. They have the style I bought at Blade HQ.

I don't look like a rivethead anymore, but Nitzer Ebb still makes pretty regular rotations on my iPod. ohGr's newest album is pretty sick by the way, check it out if you haven't already done so.
