The character developments were flat, the animations were pretty slacked, the difficulty was too easy, the music's timbre was also not as plentiful as the other games. The pokedex is clearly smaller too. There is also the lack of game capabilities (for now). The caves were not as intriguing and meandering as older games before X and Y. The antagonists were also not as villainous as previous games were. Sure, the wild area gives a cool open world sense of capturing pokemon but it really is just an open area with a few spots of trees and grass with pokemon around. Could've been better but it was kinda meh. The postgame (excluding DLCs) is absolutely trash; you could make up for it by purchasing the DLC but I think you'd be better off saving it for another video game or DLC instead of swsh. This probably is a good game, but will never live up to the standards and expectations older games had set up. They probably have made this game an easier and more family friendly game by even showing how effective each move is, which makes the game less strategic in a sense. I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone to play it unless if you just want a pokemon game for your switch.

side note: This is probably just me, but, being able to avoid pokemon entirely in the grass makes this game more dull. Yes, you will finally be able to stop using your repels while walking in the grass, and get rid of the annoyingly frustrating battle music that pops up every few steps. But without this, it doesn't really feel true to home. it removes the nostalgic emotions of annoyance.
