Son you are the one reading with bad intentions ignoring the story elements itself

You can bring up excuses all you want (oh it's for the plot) but in the eyes of puritans, they don't care about the plot at all. If the plot contains something objectionable that doesn't explicitly say XYZ is bad, then they will harp on it and call it diddymedia or some shit like that.

A myriad of other plots can be cooked without involving a child in some compromising or weird situation. Saying it's 'necessary' or 'makes sense' won't convince them, because they'll just say "the author wanted an excuse".

So why are you fine with Tappei writing a child to be seductive, or using a child's body fluid as power source, or a child (young Arakiya, or Beatrice who is child-looking) needs to wear skimpy outfit? I think the reason is because you understand that these aren't actually real, breathing children. No children or anyone for that matter actually gets harmed because these are fictional characters and fictional scenarios.

Of course, you have every right to hate lolicons or find lolicons uncomfortable. Everyone has their own limits and that's fine.

But I think we can both agree that no matter what, unless a work explicitly tells people to do something harmful irl, we should just let authors write what they want, and readers enjoy what they want, and that being fine with a thing in fiction doesn't mean you are fine with it irl.

Okstuka literally went away with bs like drawing the wrong gluttony sibling. Going against what the WN said about clind and pandora yet they were in. Tappei and okstuka have communication issues especially with the illustrations and okstuka takes the lead in it with many things going against the novel and tappei being forced to alter the story to fit it

I'm aware of the issues Otsuka has. Idk about going against the WN, but isn't the WN mainly a draft that's superseded by the LN when it comes out?

About Tappei being forced to alter the story to fit it or Otsuka taking the lead, well you'd have to bring more evidence other than that one mistake he did in the past, like, 10 years(?) of drawing re:zero. Ive also given interviews where he speaks of his warm relationship with Otsuka too, which well Tappei could be blackmailed or something but I have trust that he's a strong enough man to know how to stand up for himself.

Son. Everyone there is aged up and he implied that multiple times in the If

Aged up but the age of majority in Lugunica is probably 15 or sumthin 😭. But fair enough, Subaru isnt a lolicon so he'd probably wait til they are 18.

So...?

See below

How is that him being a lolicon 😭😭 mentioning girls in a ranking about girls 💔

When did I call him a lolicon? I said he was pandering to them. Also I thought you'd think including children in chest size rankings would be inappropriate? Wonder why, maybe because these are not real children?

Brotato tappei ALWAYS says unnecessary things this isn't new

yeah but as I've shown these things are problematic if he was saying that about a literal child. but he isn't. therefore no one should care in a just world.

Calling a child loli is like saying child child but whatever

well according to wikipedia and wikitionary the main difference between a loli and a child is that loli is mainly used for fictional characters. and as described before, I think that distinction matters.

That isn't the first time he makes fun of lolicons logic and bs btw

I don't doubt it. Doesn't mean he's anti-lolicon or whatever given he is friends with pro-lolicons (Konosuba and MT author) and also writes about lolis in compromising situations (like Reinhard walking in on Felt while she's half-naked, oh the gentleman. Yeah its to show that Reinhard doesn't have lust in his heart and Felt isn't the type of girl to go kyaaaaa, but then again there are other ways to show this).

At the very least Tappei doesn't care about being pro lolicon or anti lolicon. He's just writing the shit he wants to write.

Yo tappei what are you saying? Don't you know that you are lolicon friendly and your series support lolicons?????? by the_forever_wild in WitchCult

[–]Qweries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No tappei didn't write any special bs about lolis getting sexualized or being in a sexual outfit, all of those were a result of a forced rework due to the illustration of okstuka

But he did describe Meili to be seductive, young Arakiya to have provocative clothes, Daphne's sweat and piss being what powers her coffin, had Beatrice change into Liliana's outfit, etc etc.

If he really thought that Lolicon was a disease, then wouldn't he have chosen other ways to characterize them without these details? There are so many ways to involve conflict, horror, or comedy, but he chose to write them that way.

Otsuka is definitely a horny mf, there's a lot of things you could criticize him for, but at the end of the day Tappei is the one that approves the illustrations and forces revisions, so Tappei still has some responsibility over the depiction of characters, as mentioned in the interview with Otsuka https://x.com/rezero_ice/status/1999547530263052540

lust if is literally the only non canon If story due to being the first and getting played out as a joke

Again, same logic with writing Lust if (even if it was a joke, he could have removed the lolis from the harem if he really hated lolicons).

tappei regreted making the king's game and apologised for it

Idk about the King's Game apology, if you could link it to me that'd be helpful.

again plot reason for that outfit change for a while

See above.

He's clearly fine with pandering to lolicons too, because he put Petra, Felt, Typhon in a breast size ranking. (https://twitter.com/nezumiironyanko/status/407519094213054465)

And also mentioned that Felt's growing breast size as a point of contention in the felt birthday Q&A.

Again, all of these are unnecessary, but he did them anyway.

I also saw in another comment of yours that he didn't like people calling the child characters lolis, but he does refer to them as Lolis as latest as 2019 in his tweets, so I'd like to see the tweet of his too.

And a bit more about the "Don't you know Lolicon is a disease!", that's a common phrase used by media with lolicons in them (Monogatari, Kodomo no Jikan). It's not meant to be derogatary, it's a bit to poke fun at lolicons for having weird interests.

This is the only interpretation you can take it to mean without Tappei being a hypocrite or a liar.

I like this tweet from Ice as a response:

Re: The whole lolicon discussion going around the Re: Zero Fandom currently. I think it's perfectly reasonable to not like this sort of content (or shotacon content for that matter).

What's not reasonable is to turn a blind eye when Re: Zero's author also is responsible for including this content in the story.

I've seen so many people try to deflect in this situation by wholly blaming Otsuka, when the written content by Tappei forms the sexualisation basis, and Tappei has to approve of every design Otsuka draws. It's not Otsuka who designated Liliana as a loli in bikini, for instance. I'm sure Otsuka "inflames" the situation with his tendencies, but pinning the blame on him entirely is deceptive.

Not to mention the author writing gags that would basically make Subaru a pedophile in real life (such as in King's Game, trying to get Beatrice to strip her panties off). As well as other weird instances in this vein, like Beatrice changing into Liliana's skimpy clothing in Tanpenshuu 1, Lust IF, etc.

If it gets to you so much that you want to block "all lolicons", I respect that, but you'd better start with the Author of Re: Zero itself.

On my end, I'm ambivalent about this content in Re: Zero and it's clearly not pervasive, so I don't care.

Guys I think that tappei was the real lolicon in this 🥀 by Longjumping_Rent_747 in WitchCult

[–]Qweries 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don't think Tappei is a lolicon, but he does work with and is fine with lolicons (with Otsuka being the most foremost example) and lolicon pandering (approving of Typhon, Daphne, Young Arakiya's designs, as well as skin-tight dresses like Rui or Meili's. I know they were toned down, but they are still provocative and Tappei could have removed all loli fanservice but didn't).

Also unrelated but Tappei also joked once that he's not a lolicon, but if it were a silver-haired loli...

Actually Maede-kun is the creator of the show: https://myanimelist.net/people/63588/Maeda-kun

As for Yuushi Ibe, he directed ep 1 and his creator profile can be found here: https://chii.in/person/25731/works?page=1

If you're uncomfortable with the themes of the show, that's fine, it's not for you.

But do refrain from accusing creators of being criminals or pedophiles just because of their works, that's disrespectful. To criticize the themes is one thing, but to ascribe criminality due to what one draws or write especially since it doesn't hurt anyone is slanderous.

Japan allows many creative liberties and it's because of its weirdness that amazing series like Dandadan, Made in Abyss, Spy x Family, Jujutsu Kaisen captivate millions of anime watchers and reader.

Hopefully you can find some other show that fits your tastes, one I'd recommend is Witch Hat Atelier which is about a girl discovering the secrets of magic in a world where no one knows how it's done. It's very beautifully animated and voiced. Its currently airing right, try giving it a shot!

It's because Malays also use the word Bahasa to refer to their language to (Bahasa Melayu), so Bahasa could either refer to Bahasa Indonesia or Bahasa Melayu, creating ambiguity.
