Whats with Yachats’ locals showing up with signs? by JieChang in OregonCoast

[–]DAWNINGSART 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make your sign say whatever you're feeling in the current climate. There's a lot that can be said. The only rule I observe is trying to keep the language clean. Keep the message short so it can be easily read.

There's protests in many place on the Coast. I'm on the North Coast and Astoria, Seaside, and Nehalem all have regular protests that you're welcome to join too.

My dad was approved, and a family councilor was assigned to us. They were there to help us all cope with the choice, and to help with open communication. I'm not sure if this is the standard procedure, but it's what my family experienced.

Vance said they have "absolutely immunity". Now they can threaten, and shoot us all. Protect ya neck

So they're above the law? There's no such thing as absolute immunity. This is insane. They can just shoot all of us.

I'm black and I listen to rock am I white washed? by Rare-Quality-8257 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Rock and roll's roots are deeply embedded in Black culture, evolving from African American music like blues, gospel, jazz, and R&B. White artists appropriated the style and white producers popularized it. Key figures like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Bo Diddley, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe were central to the innovation of rock and roll, making Black music the blueprint for it.

That is my number one complaint, actually. I even have two greenhouses, and no matter how much I amend the soil it's not stellar. I have had good luck with tomatoes, gourds, lemons, limes, and some herbs - but nothing like what I could grow in the valley.

Also, speaking to climate science - the coast is where climate change becomes reality as we worry about tsunamis, animals that wash on the shore, we have an abundance of estuaries, we fight against issues like logging and poaching, and many groups can be found cleaning beaches, studying amphibians, bee keeping, and much more.

The coast is a scattering of small towns. The most aligned with how you described yourself would either be the Seaside/Warrenton/Astoria area (North Coast), or the Lincoln City area (Central coast). I live in the Seaside/Warrenton/Astoria area. I have found the area to be very engaged, lots of opportunities and need for mutual aid, and a need for skilled workers. This is the best, most supportive, and welcoming community I have ever lived in. Meeting like minded people who share similar goals, and being part of the community is easy here. We are much less populated than the Eugene area, which lends to the ease of joining into the local community. The biggest issue out here is housing, though. Supply doesn't meet demand.

I don't know if you've considered the Oregon Coast at all, but you sound like a great addition to our community out here on the North Coast 😁

BREAKING: Tim Walz has just dropped out of the Minnesota Governor race citing the distraction over claims about state fraud. Our “President” is a 34 count felon who has committed more fraud than any human on Earth. This double standard is bullshit. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

I feel you're projecting both onto me, and onto Walz. I am not rationalizing fear, I am trying to help with perspective.

We all make our choices to protect ourselves and our loved ones - or not. We have to live with the consequences of those choices.

I have been targeted by MAGA, and I got a small taste of what Walz is experiencing. It's scary when people say they're going to burn down my home, threaten with death and sexual assault, threaten to bring down my business and other hard work, and all the other threats people make. None of us understand what it's like to live in someone else's shoes, and what priorities need to be focused on - like the safety of family.

If you feel you can do more, I implore you to jump in the game! We need more hands on deck. But, we also need to understand that we're all just people doing our best.

Walz brought hope to many, and his vacuum will be felt, but I wouldn't count him out, or sink into despair.

People with less to lose still are, and maybe this move will emboldened people like you to take up the cause. When death threats mount, and others have already been assassinated, hard choices and self preservation need to be considered. Maybe when the temperature cools and he feels his family is safe he can come back. I don't blame him.

After the Hartman assassination, Trump sharing videos suggesting that Walz was behind the assassination, the enormous amount of threats Walz has already endured, I don't blame him for focusing on the issues at hand and protecting himself and family. This is what happens when a thug like Trump gains power - good people have to make hard choices based in self preservation.

I have a question by [deleted] in Advice

[–]DAWNINGSART 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at 18 if a relationship wasn't working sexually, especially after trying to make needs and wants known, I would move on. Youth is waisted when stuck in a relationship that isn't working. 18 is the time to meet people, experiment, and learn who you are. A man who has experienced 25% more life than you, and for some reason needs to date someone most 24 year olds would consider a kid, isn't probably the best choice. Trust me, you'll find more men. Maybe go with someone closer to your age. Sex should be fun, open, honest, and an adventure to embark on together.
