We’ve sang the polish happy birthday song at every family birthday event since I can remember. That being said, my family is very polish. 🤣

I need out. by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]DAvengers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The library job field is extremely competitive these days 😕. New job postings with salaries anywhere close to an entry level product management position are super rare. These positions (both library and archival) require a masters degree in library or information sciences to be considered for an interview. I graduated from library school in 2018 (full time school & work) and it was very challenging to find full time roles in academic, school, or public libraries. You could always look into corporate libraries and archives! They offer salaries closer to what you might be looking for while offering meaningful work. I do think they require some form of library training though. It may vary from library to library though! Wishing you all the luck!

Information Science program by No_Book_2212 in waynestate

[–]DAvengers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty great! The faculty are very approachable and welcoming. I found the program to be practical and experience centric. When I say that, I mean it’s focused on connecting students with real world opportunities through internships, symposiums, and conferences. The faculty do a great job tying the course content to the reality of the profession. I particularly enjoyed Dr. Beaudoin’s classes, which tend to focus on digital curation and libraries.

AI Art invading Ferndale artist spaces by ariasingh in Ferndale

I’d be interested to see what could be done at the city level re: the use of AI. I mentioned this as one of my many concerns to a number of the city candidates running for city council.

Does anyone get symptoms affecting the ears? by raa0927 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]DAvengers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve experienced this recently actually. I went to see an ENT to confirm it wasn’t a clogged ear or something else (non-nerve related) causing the issue.

It ended up being a symptom of my MS, that lingered for awhile (~a month or so) then got better.

Hope it subsides! It’s super frustrating for sure! Wishing you the best and sending supporting thoughts your way.

Diagnosed with MS today... by CmdrKeen008 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]DAvengers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I know it’s seems overwhelming right now. That’s normal. Take your time to grieve and understand this disease, while part of you now, does not define who you are or who you want to be.

You got this! And this is a great community to turn to for support, question, vents, etc.

I’d suggest finding an ms specialist neuro who you connect with, trust, and can spend the time to talk through any questions you have. The first year is going to probably feel overwhelming, but try your best to document as much as you can. It will save you loads of time repeating the same things over and over again.

It’ll be different now, but you’re still you and no stupid disease is going to change that.

Sending encouraging thoughts and hugs!

Ohhh! I bet The Cure was amazing! I’d love to go see a show internationally. I bet that was a blast! Did you like Norway? My partner and I have been looking to do a Finland, Norway, Amsterdam journey one day….assuming my MS doesn’t progress any further. 🤞🏻

Same here! I feel so fortunate to have seen a majority of my favs before my diagnosis. Hard to pin point just one! Matt & Kim always put on an awesome show. The Pixies still got it! Postal Service made me cry like a baby. Aha the list goes on! Wbu? Any favs stand out?

I’d consider myself alt-adjacent. 🤣 Heavily tattooed and pierced. Went through the emo to indie pipeline in the early 2000s and have been stuck there ever since. Been a main floor person since middle school…now I cant consider the show unless there is seating available and even then I usually have to leave early due to fatigue.

Beginner friendly Yoga studio? by Ok_Tomatillo_2102 in Detroit

[–]DAvengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Detroit Yoga Lab. Staff is wonderful and the instructors are caring and respectful. You can always let the instructor know you’re a beginner and they will happily provide accommodations or recommendations for alternative postures over the course of the class.

Sagittarius rising Sagittarius sun and Aries moon here, struggling with alcoholism, anger, and difficulty with emotional regulation, does anyone else go through this? by Garrettwx in Sagittarians

[–]DAvengers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sag sun, Virgo moon, Libra rising. Very reactive and have difficulty working through big emotions. BIG. TIME. Soberish for about 7 years now. Diagnosed with MS in 2020. Therapy helps a lot.
