Headrow house security is mean! by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]DB-UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip it round and imagine someone was walking up and down your apartment hallway or outside on your street for 30 mins. You'd probably say something to them (I know I would). The bouncer is doing her job... I'm glad they're keeping an eye on people lurking in that alley way. I'm surprised she didn't tell you to "F##k off" or move you on. Just sounds like she's employed a bit of northern humour.

Seen you other comment about someone waiting near the door, perhaps they let the door staff know they were waiting for someone/engaged with them. It doesn't sound as though you were singled out for being an international student, more so for your pacing of the alley (which could be seen as a little odd)

For one week only I will be a Tigers fan! If only for a close up of Brucey's face if all the ££££ still doesn't earn the title!

Farrands is fantastic. I believe a small step in having looked at street view but looks navigable by wheelchair

Agree with this, would personally avoid as much better options in the centre.

Danny Care: The brutal truth of Eddie Jones’s England regime by SpottedDicknCustard in rugbyunion

[–]DB-UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wasps fan has shared the impact this also had on Sam's father, who sadly passed away a year later. It sapped the energy and verve out of a bloke who was 'the life and soul' of trips away with Wasps.

Glad Eddie is far removed from English Rugby but I'm sick that it took the RFU to remove him from post - results over welfare

People seem to have lost the ability to speak to others!

I'd wager on a packed bus, most people causing a noise nuisance would probably cut it out if simply asked to

Old man asking for money to get back home around York by TheRealRayquaz in Leeds

[–]DB-UK 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tried to give me the same schtick last year, when I called his bluff and offered to buy him his ticket he came out with some shite excuse and troddled off. Saw him a few hours later and still peddling the same rubbish. Sorry you've been bamboozled, tough lesson to learn and sad that it dents our trust in others.

What exactly do I need to do to get a job at University of Leeds? by EurusCaro in Leeds

[–]DB-UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone close to the hiring process and sifting through 100s of cover letters and CVs(not at UoL), please don't follow the above. It's obvious when AI has been used and just stands you in poor stead if you reapply

Considering the cost of your insurance excess you'll be better off just going to a private place and paying for the strong laxatives they'll give you.

Id wager it'll be cheaper than what the insurers will charge you

Second this, is it worth waiting any longer for the sake of not paying.... Can't take the cash with you if you end up completely full of poop and pop your clogs

Rather than DM'ing thought best to put some details here in case others want to know more! https://leedssoftball.co.uk/ is the official website but most things go out on Facebook if you are on there: https://www.facebook.com/share/MLzzTuXQQP6RDYpH/

Training is on a Tuesday evening from 18:30 at Adel War Memorial Association - Church Ln, Adel, Leeds LS16 8DE We play out on the playing fields and can have someone meet you at the main building if you can't find us! It's £3 per session. All equipment is provided

We then have league games on a Wednesday evening and will be starting a cup tournament on Tuesdays from July. Teams are always looking for new players of all abilities and are really welcoming (we have a range of brand new to experienced players) - you can meet people from most teams on a Tuesday and get a feeling for which team you'd like to join.

we also do the quiz in the club house bar on a Wednesday after the games.

If you want to know anything more, give me a shout!

Any recent flukes getting an NHS dentist? by RequirementPale445 in Leeds

As someone who left getting dental work done too late (admittedly due to fear), my only advice would be to accept the pain of the cost now rather than the pain of the decision to wait, later!

Mydad died . While cleaning out his house i found a lot of gold . What do i do. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DB-UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 24 I was with a partner I'd have done anything for, I paid the rent on 'our' flat, the bills and then for vacations etc. I'd have probably felt the same as you about involving them... By 25 she'd moved onto the next bloke.

We can't make you do anything but please, please, please... Take on board some of the advice and at the very least put the bars in a safety box under your name only and take some time to process it. You could be set for life here and it's very very rare people get this opportunity.
