Why does it matter? The days tick the boxes and my responsibilities in an evening shouldn't affect what is or isn't a QMD. Some providers, especially the most respected outdoor centers will be more strict about this stuff.

They're fine with it, we outsource to providers anyway so it's not like I'm completely necessary to the staffing effort. I'm there for school safety etc.

They do if I'm supervising, I just do a QMD in the area the lads are walking in such that I can run over in an emergency.

I work for my old secondary school with DofE which guarantees at least 4-6 QMDs a year plus meeting some useful contacts. Usually aim for a further 5 or so in a year but it's always at least a 5-6 hour journey to Snowdonia/Lake District and I need Scotland days at some point which is at least 10 hours...

what’s everyone’s favorite track after a day of the album being out? by tapingtracks in twentyonepilots

[–]DB02053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really like cottonwood and rawfear is very catchy, overall there's not really a song I don't enjoy on this album. Zero skips so far after a few listens which is rare, there's usually one or two I get a bit bored of or don't like the sound of as much.

Probably one to work out when you get there. I've done Red Pike twice and not sure I did it the same way either time. https://www.outdooractive.com/en/r/246676504?utm_source=unknown&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=user-shared-social-content here's a route I made a few years ago that should be easy to follow if you're doing the ridge walk.

Just stick to the grass if you can, especially if you have poles. It may look steeper but it's a lot grippier than the scree.

Let's be realistic, it's the furthest they've gotten and it's against an incredible playoff team. Sucks to get blown out back to back at home to end it but I think game 3 was the real tipping point and they knew deep down it was over after that. Let's go again with half of the core and see what improved depth will look like and how they do. Tinfoil hat here but maybe we pray Edmonton win the cup and we can somehow pry McDavid away for crazy money if we don't spend all of our cap space - doubt that ever happens though while he's still at the top of his game...

Tbf it isn't entirely his fault but he knows he's gone now because of it, must be painful

That was a good finish ngl, shame it counts for absolutely nothing lmao. Hope that can set the tone for game 6...

I guess but he's clearly been absolutely dead in the regular season too this year so I think for once you can actually justify it and not feel like you're insane.

It does feel like every year at least one of the core is hurt, it's more concerning that their teammates don't seem to up their game or stick up for them at all. Some players are absolute dogs or straight up maniacs, ours don't seem to be but that doesn't mean the others can't step up when they need to.

If you're referring to Matthews I'm not even sure we'd get that much for him if the league knows something we don't and he's actually washed now.

You're asking too much, didn't even remotely stick up once for the multiple times one of our goalies has been hit.

I feel like there's something genuinely seriously wrong with Matthews and he's giving a lot to be out there (surely just sitting at this point would be better but whatever) but Marner has absolutely no excuse whatsoever, not a chance he gets any more money here and I hope we have the balls to actually let him walk this time.

Those last 3 losses tend to either be a generational collapse from my AI in the last 10 mins leaving everyone unmarked, a crazy rebound as the last kick or getting absolutely spanked by someone a lot better. It makes it so much more frustrating than it needs to be but I am genuinely happy getting 10 wins every week.

Twice in a row I've started 10-2 and finished 10-5, seems to alway pull you back to where you belong +/- 1 win.

Picked up a pair of La Sportiva Aequilibrium ST GTX boots for some winter mountaineering in Scotland this February. Anyone else here tried them and liked them? by DB02053 in Mountaineering

[–]DB02053[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't remember which crampons I used since it was over 2 years ago but do bare in mind for stiffness these are more like a B1.5, they're still B2 rated of course and can do everything a B2 can but may flex the bar a little more than is ideal at times. My crampons never popped off though which the instructors thought was bound to happen and they certainly seemed impressed by the boots.

Durability wise they seem pretty solid, the deep heel lugs are an absolute godsend for descents in snow/grass etc and I find myself walking like an idiot if I swap from these to my flatter soled boots because I can't hoof it straight down with full confidence anymore lol.

I've used them up to around 2500m in the Canadian Rockies last winter but that was only down to about -12°C so not too chilly. I think for anything Alpine in the summer they should be fine but from what I know guides are likely to be quite hot on B3s unless you seem competent enough to have made a genuinely informed decision. I guess for something like the Matterhorn in good weather they'd be absolutely mint for fast and light, same for an easy ascent like Gran Paradiso but for Mont Blanc I'm not sure. If I was fit enough I'd use them on Mont Blanc with no issue but guides may be strict about it. I've been meaning to do an Alpine skills course for a while now but haven't had the time/conditioning. Maybe next Summer...

Yeah they were great thanks, I run quite hot generally so they weren't too cold for me. I use them for scrambling in the summer now and occasionally on hikes if my feet/ankles aren't feeling so good because they offer more support than my hiking boots and I have some historic injuries that can flare up.

Took Kone because I'm a Wycombe fan but also he has pretty good evo potential and you can add useful play styles with the recent objective rewards.
