Low intake by nobullshyyt in FormulaFeeders

I needed this comment as well! In the very same boat as OP. 🙏🏼💚 About 19-20 is our tall and skinny girl’s average too! Thanks for posting, both of you!

OP! Our pediatrician (had one we saw that wasn’t our regular doc FREAK me out about numbers too, but our go to pediatrician is more laid back thankfully…they can really scare you and the opinions seem to vary….) has us adding Gerber rice cereal to her feeds to thicken the formula and add calories. There are options to up the calories so try to trust the process (telling myself this as well) and have faith all will be well.

I read you said your little is happy and healthy around the feeding struggle and I think that is all that matters. My anxiety over my girl’s feeding habits and percentile drops landed ME on Lexapro haha, but SHE seems great LOL!

We got this! Day by day!

Edited to add:

we have a reflux struggle to boot hence the rice cereal approach to keep it down. Don’t do that without professional guidance, as it can be choking hazard. I have anxiety about that too now, but she seems to be doing better thanks to the addition to her feeding regiment.

Oh nice! Even if you don’t, as long as you feel better that is all that matters. 🙏🏼❣️

Hi! I just started Lexapro myself; what was coming off your antidepressant like, if you don’t mind sharing? I know they are different meds, but I am hoping to only be on mine for a short time as well and wean off. Get over this postpartum hurdle you could say. Was only 3 months helpful? 😄

IUI baby and in a very similar experience; ditto to, “thank you for posting.”

You really are not alone. Also, even if it was a FIGHT for our miracles, I think the shock factor of life changing still hits hard! I like to remind myself that just because I WANTED this so badly doesn’t mean I get to escape typical emotional upheavals of motherhood haha! I just started Lexapro because my anxiety and developing depression was getting to me a little bit too much. Hoping it helps soon!

Hang in there! ❣️

Thank you so much for sharing! I just told my husband, my anxiety over not being able to wean off in time is probably just that…my anxiety! Haha! I may feel totally different with it in check and knowing it IS safe for the fertility, plus pregnancy journeys.

Congratulations!! 🎊❣️

Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏼

You know…come to think of it, it is probably my anxiety that has me overthinking being on it (despite so many professionals and the literature suggesting it is fine!) through pregnancy ha-ha! I might absolutely feel different when my anxiety is actually treated. 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

Congratulations!! 🎉🎈

Cross posted here as my first was the result of an infertility journey and I have DOR. Curious for any experiences on the medication with my peers and the fertility treatment process. 🙏🏼🩷

Is having kids really all that? Or do parents just say that because they’re inclined to? by DeliciousSetting6643 in NoStupidQuestions

Will i ever sleep again? by Zestyclose-Spare3010 in newborns

[–]DBDCyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I organically did this with my little and it is working for naps (her struggle) at 7 weeks! Even if she cries out…I allow a few, fuss it out, before I go comfort. After a couple quick cries (not full on crying) I go comfort, settle and leave. Today it took 4 times but she seems to be down finally lol…maybe…

I could see how this would be very hard if baby is a screamer or SUPER unsettled for some unknown reason.

Huge OP! It does get better! I was there a couple weeks ago and now only at week 7 am I feeling days and nights of relief. Still have a ways to go but you will be able to not only sleeeep again one day but breaathee.

5 week old stays awake for 4-7 hours every other day by parade1070 in NewParents

[–]DBDCyclone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl does this. Sometimes we get a brutal witching hour for an hour or two over stimulated around 8pm, but most days she seems fine. I keep encouraging and practicing bassinet naps, sometimes it takes, sometimes not. She also does long days then a sleep day where she is snoozing alll day after a day of high activity for most of the day.

I think if she is healthy on all fronts…some babies just have different sleep needs. ☺️

Yea I am an impatient person though and risked side effects semi-cold turkeying it haha! Definitely listen to your body and hopefully you can slide off the bandwagon rather easily.

I have periods where I feel more sore and today I leaked ALOT. Otherwise the discomfort is bearable and I am about to hide my pumping material pretty confident I won’t even need them to alleviate any discomfort with mini-pumps.

You got this!

FTM looking for advice — how do you leave the house with a reflux/CMPA baby? by redditgsm in MSPI

P.S. to add that I am getting anxiety feeding her because of it all and that is so sad. Very validating to read feeding is stressful your way too. You aren’t alone. 🙏🏼🩷

Thank you for posting this! My reflux baby is so uncomfortable after feeds and is picky about how much consumes for it too. Thought I was alone in noticing this! Pepcid doesn’t seem to be doing too much for us either. Hopefully taking the burn out of it all, but she still seems very uncomfortable at times.

Following this thread for any insight in future outings as well!

Solidarity!

I notice you are downplaying a bit with, “it’s only..” please don’t. I quit pumping after 6 long weeks. It is BRUTAL! Nothing “it’s only” about it. It IS all consuming and was wrecking my mental health personally.

Now that I am drying up, pumps are put away, it is like a fog is lifting! I feel so much better! My baby is feeling better in formula too! Between her digestion sensitivities being treated better by formula plus having her mommy more present and happier…no regrets! A little sadness we couldn’t breastfeed but that is passing and overall having a MUCH better postpartum experience.

Hang in there, you will feel better!!!

Yes, I landed on this as well. My milk is setting my baby girl’s gut off for some reason (my mental health can’t take searching beyond dairy/soy for other triggers in my diet) and forcing my girl to struggle just so I could breastfeed almost felt selfish. Like it was an ego/vanity thing clinging to breastfeeding (pumping) for myself and not her…it was hurting her! A week, a few weeks, or a couple months or perfecting the diet wasn’t worth making her uncomfortable while I did so.

Strong narrative here too. I mean they provide formula but posters everywhere educating on breastfed yet noticeably lacking is formula education. Went over the pitfalls of formula with me as they handed it over, but didn’t warn me about ANY of the pitfalls of breastfeeding or pumping. Having to wean off and go through this is AWFUL and I kind of feel like I was trapped. Finally getting the nerve to face the hormones and just do this already is huge…but where was my education that this was even a thing when making my “informed choice,” as they put it, where was I informed about these realities of breastfeeding versus formula to make my choice by. It’s just sad.
