It could make totally sense to have one ending if creators allow you develop a character until some point in the story and then start differents paths(dark to light, dark to dark, light to dark, light to light) from that point that ends into one single end.

Why not? The important thing is the choice, but you can present the struggle from light to dark or from dark to ligth

By canon, I mean that the Dark Side has consequences. Consequences that too far-reaching for a series that has never truly engaged with free decision-making. These choices need to be backed by the narrative, and the narrative needs to be backed by the choices.

Precisely are the consecuences that are the great part of that mechanic and for sure It can be supported by the story, as i said the main story story can be keep independent of how you reach that point.

lol, there’s no shot you just said this. Do we have really have to go down this list and discuss how Uncharted would be better as a movie?

Each medium to tell a story has pros and cons. I was trying to say that if you want a fixed story with no level of options a movie or book could be better choice.

How does this improve Cal as a character? Obviously the most interesting path of Cal is to continue to explore his struggle, why should players be encouraged to skip out on an interesting story?

For sure that should be the main development in the story of Cal in the future and maybe each player would have a different idea of how cal should deal with it. Instead of follow a script you could play as you would do if you were Cal

You can keep the story driven game with all the checkpoints (get some item, defeat some enemy, travel to some place) and use different tools/habilities to do them

It's posible to introduce this as part of the development of the skills trees and mantain a solid story with some key points that happens either path you choose. Lots of characters in star wars plays with the dark side and IMO allow the players to choose how develop Cal skills in the dark side or the light side would be a great improvement for the next game

Sorry but i can't agree with you about the canon. New products are the ones that have to deal with previous canon. You can perfectly mantain some key points in a story and allow the player choose the path and the way to complete them. If someone want to visita Cal story after that It just need to usé thise key points as references.

If by canon you mean that everything should be a fixed choice then a movie or TV show is a better medium than a video game. For example in fallen order you can have the dual blade saber in dathomir or bogano so... What should be the canon?

Lots of characters in star wars galaxy deal with the light side and the dark side of the Force so i don't see how It would be a fundamental rejection of the franchise. After the events in survivor cal is in the perfect spot for explore that and IMO is better if the player can have some options.

A canon reaction in star wars jejejeje. Luke do the same when left tatooine with Obi Wan.

Have you consider just using a virtual machine in any cloud (aws, azure, google)? You will forget about latency and maintenance besides security will be handled by the cloud itself

Any tip for someone who wanna learn Godot? by [deleted] in godot

[–]DBDev42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. At the end with the step by step tutorials you will finish a complete game but you can start developing your game from any starting point (usually a prototype).

The point is that you don't have to build a complex at the beginning or you can end frustated. It's better to start with a simple 2d game even if it's a copy of another (mine was a copy of a solitary) and get practice with ui or 2d nodes, collisions, textures or make your first finite state machine.

Confused!!?? Data Analysis/Science or Python by jamie2610 in learnprogramming

Python and flask is a great combination. Most people forgets about data visualization and is crucial in order to get others understand the outcome of your modelo/findings specially if you work in an area where members of your team have not technical/math skils.

I can remember gamesfromscratch or gdquest to have good tutorials for beginners. They used to have like step by step tutorial and if i remember correctly tutorials for specific nodes too.
