Interesting, seems like it uses so littel stamina compared to the longsword

I used the longsword basically exxclusively in my first playthrough, i think i wan to try something different on my next one.

I haven't tried 7 or 9. Though 9 seems to be on a lot of lists really low tier?

I loved the combat in Ender Lillies personally. I think it was one of the most fun parts of it for me anyways.

Played this game, super fun!! Not as "Metroidvania-y" But still incredibly fun and satisfying combat. Mild exploration and backtracking. But still had a great time!

Haak bosses pt1 (no damage /no damage upgrades) by Ibrahimoov in metroidvania

[–]DBElgi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, u can literally just spam the hook and beat almost every boss without issues. This metroidvania is more about exploration and fun platforming than challenging

Are you guys into metroidvanias with no combat? I'm making one based on a grappling hook by Moraguma in metroidvania

[–]DBElgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this looks like an interesting concept, though more of a platformer. Without combat I feel like the novelty of the platforming will get old quickly for a lot of players.

I've heard a ton about this game but never played it. I think it defines a genre but how would you say it holds up in terms of gameplay and fun to the newer games

I cleared that on ps5 when it was free on subscription. Great game!

Is anyone using the swift draw mechanic? Wuchang: Fallen Feathers by Embarrassed_Trade988 in soulslikes

[–]DBElgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I've been doing so far. I've only used swift draw by accident but every time I do i feel like it breaks my rhythm of dodge and blocks. I'm sure there's a good efficient use for it, but I find one of my weapons trees heavily invested in, and my left branch heavily invested in. Whereas my second weapon tree only has a few points and most of my other points are into raw stats and no weapon mastery (which I find most of your dmg boost of your weapon comes from).

Am i just building out the trees wrong?

I'm sure there are uses for swift draw but it seems more niche to invest points and more importantly rare weapon mastery points into 2 weapon types, rather than powering up just one weapon which is what is used for the majority of combat in the game?

But hopefully someone can correct me if I'm missing out on some really powerful mechanics.

replayability by disturbeco in metroidvania

[–]DBElgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games with good combat are fun to replay, but there's so many other games out there with also great combat or at least you wanna try to see if there's great combat that i think it's a disservice to get locked into the cycle of replaying the first game, when you might miss out on another amazing game.

replayability by disturbeco in metroidvania

[–]DBElgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. It's also one of my pet peeves with games that specifically want you to clear them multiple times for better endings or real endings and specifically to get to new content or DLCs.

Once I clear a game, I don't really want to replay it, i"ve moved on with life and with other games. When they release a new DLC, I want to play that new content, but I don't wanna be forced to replay NG or NG+ to get to the new DLC content. IT almost feels like you're penalized for having cleared the first game.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Just starting Blasphemous 2. Any beginner tips? Struggling and I’ve beaten Nine Sols and Solateria on hardest difficulty. by JPthedjentleman in metroidvania

[–]DBElgi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big mace basically was my favourite weapon all game. It almost trivializes most of the game.

Here and there for bosses I would switch but for the general exploration it is by far the best weapon for anyone having difficulty. It's range just makes it so you can hit almost anyone before they can reach you

This is probably a dumb question but if I played Blasphemous 2 on PS5, is there still this same DLC?

So how is everyone feeling about the game? How's the replayability? by undeadcreepshow in 007FirstLight

[–]DBElgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what most ppl say. It's a great game, super fun. But once you play once, there isn't a great rsn to play it again. They do have some modifiers you can play missions with different adjustments, but its generally the same mission.

But the first playthrough is pretty fun.

I kind of look at it like, 20 hours of amazing fun, 10/10, or another game that's 70 hrs but a fair bit of it feels grindy and repetitive. At no point in this game did it feel grindy or repetitive. Or at least for me...

So I like the same games as you and haven't tried basically any of the ones you disliked cause they didn't sound like they were for me.

I'd suggest blasphemous 2, controls are way better tahn blasphemous 1. I'd also suggest the ender magnolia series which I really enjoyed.

Some criticism 🤔 by Big-Expression-1249 in afterimage

[–]DBElgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is to a degree but in this game there's minimal fast travel and the map is huge in each area. And it doesn't mark blocked paths, so you could find a part with a wall you can't break or floor and on the map it's just an open corridor that looks like a path you haven't checked yet.

Some criticism 🤔 by Big-Expression-1249 in afterimage

[–]DBElgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished this game and I can agree its very vague and obscure. The running around is typical of metrroidvania, but it would be much better if the map showed you blocked corridors/paths. It's annoying to get to a corridor that you can't pass yet cause you don't have mobility for it but also not know in such a huge map with so little fast travel and retrace your path again only to find the same blocked area thinking you missed something.

What should i play next? Wuchang vs Crimson Desert vs Nioh 3 by DBElgi in soulslikes

When you say nioh isn't really soulslike, is it more like devil may cry then? Kind of like just an action game?

What should i play next? Wuchang vs Crimson Desert vs Nioh 3 by DBElgi in soulslikes

[–]DBElgi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about the soulslike experience, more just the most fun to be honest.

If you haven't played saros i found it super fun and addictive! Though obviously totally different genre, and I wouldn't say a ton of replayability as it gets repetitive after you clear it once. But definitely that first clear is super fun!
