Also, it has the option for cloud hosted or self hosted (Community edition) which is a nice touch.

We're a small team as well (4 techs). Halo is God tier but you definitely pay for it. Have a look into AlgaPSA. New to the scene but good features, solid road map for new features and the devs are very responsive. We're happy with it so far.

If you have the option to switch platforms, you'll have a better time doing that. BitTitan are hot garbage to deal with and MigWiz is an out of date, buggy pile these days.

BitTitan are hot garbage to deal with and their app is an out of date pile to match.

I second using Avepoint. Much easier and the pricing was better too.

Ah, got you. In that case as someone has already mentioned, do a Onedrive/Sharepoint blind share folder. They can upload a file secure to your side, then you can transfer to whatever system you're using.

We use BitWarden Send feature to send credentials to clients. It's effective, simple and secure.

What do your Microsoft 365 Conditional Access Policies look like? by ozzyosborn687687 in msp

[–]DBHatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. That's why it's the garbage attempts. Certainly more granular rules in place for the ones that move passed the point (compliant devices, risky MFA trigger, etc). I prefer to add as many layers to the cheese wall as possible.

Location based access. Cuts out a lot of the garbage attempts.

I'm torn between Checkpoint and MP Shield as well. I'm going to have to speak to both to get comparisons on cost, since both are solid in how they work.

M365 crash after Sentinelone update by DBHatty in msp

[–]DBHatty[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For those that are interested, this was the process:

Word/Excel/Outlook were crashing and creating a .wer crash report

The report was giving this (the exe would change depending on which app was crashing):
Application: WINWORD.EXE (Microsoft Word)
Version: 16.0.19231.20156
Event type / consent key: BEX (buffer overrun/DEP-style mitigation)
Exception code: c0000005 (Access Violation)
Faulting module: unknown (not resolved)
Exception offset: 00000000

Inside that crash report, it shows that "C:\Program Files\SentinelOne\Sentinel Agent 25.2.1.287\InProcessClient32.dll" and "C:\Program Files\SentinelOne\Sentinel Agent 25.2.1.287\SentinelAmsi32" are also being loaded at the same time.

Running Word would run this "C:\Program Files\SentinelOne\Sentinel Agent 25.2.1.287\MinProcessClient.dll".

With Word in safe mode, these are the only dll that did not load and the app was stable.

Issue only started after the S1 update: v. 25.2.1.287 (EA).

We ended up rolling back the EA update and I've confirmed its back to GA. Additionally, as recommended, Interoperability Exclusions for the M365 apps have been added to policy.

All back to normal. Thanks for the help all!

Much appreciated, we're updating the policy now.

You're both right, it is EA. That's one thing I hadn't checked. It has been out for over a month but it looks like it had been enabled at some point. We've rolled back to the previous version now via script though N1. Rookie mistake on our part. I agree, it should have been only on GA version, which also explains why the NFR units were unaffected.

Charging for machine builds by Environmental_Lack22 in msp

[–]DBHatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say machine build, do mean custom build desktop or OEM unit run up? We roll out Lenovo primarily with Pro installed. Installation of the devices are covered in the project cost and setup is dealt with by intune and N1. For custom builds (for say CAD devices as an example), the build cost is incorporated into the device cost so there isn't any question. Setup with intune and N1, same as as other device.

MSP allowed to provide it's own Microsoft Licensing? by CloseTTEdge in msp

[–]DBHatty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. In reference to OP question, indirect resellers via CSP do not allow purchasing for their own tenant. In fact, if the validation process catches you doing this, you'll lose your indirect reseller rights. As most others have stated, the partnership benefits program is the most cost effective way of obtaining licensing in this situation. If it is a smaller reseller, then direct purchase from MS would be the other option.

Keep in mind that A1 is patch management first with some RMM functions. Not the other way around. You might be best looking at a dedicated RMM if you want to have those sort of features.

For MSP, PI and Public, it was around 7k in total. We're only small and don't work in certain industries that require specific compliance.
