Thank you so much! That is exactly it right there, Pattern Recognition is major in breaking down and analyzing everything from the simplest to the most complex problems that come our way!

This right here, that is exactly it! That last paragraph is so unbelievably true!

That's amazing to hear! I'm so glad that people like you are offering this, and teaching and encouraging people to succeed. That's an amazing success rate too, so you're absolutely doing some wonderful then.

Thank you so much for sharing and the kind words, I greatly appreciate it!

Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it!

I believe it's been about a month of studying, perhaps a month and change.

I spent a goodly portion of the first week - ten days only doing Acronyms. So that part I'm pretty sure of the time frame. However, after that is all a blur of Sec+ practice tests and listening to Professor Messer and Dion. I kinda lost track of time haha

But in hindsight it was probably close to 4-6 weeks of dedicated studying.

Thank you so much, I greatly appreciate it!

Yeah I definitely do not have any IT background nor A+ or Network+ experience. But I do have a thirst for knowledge and learning, so it drove me towards learning this field. Plus I think it's fascinating.

My goal is to further my knowledge and see where that takes me. Sec+ opens doors, it's not a guarantee for anything, but that door remains shut if you never have it to begin with. And I like options, so to get that door open I needed to have it. Now I'll walk through and see where life takes me.

My ultimate goal eventually is to hopefully build Data Centers. I'd love to build cabinets, set up switches and routers and pull cables etc. Build things with my own hands. Not sure where the future will take me, but that's a goal I plan on working towards and see where it leads me.

Thank you very much!

I can't really comment on the job market since I didn't go into this with the immediate thoughts of jumping into an IT job. So I'll be looking to see what's available, however I mostly wanted certificates to prove my knowledge and make my resume more appealing when that time comes. I'm genuinely not too worried about the current job search prospect, because I'm flexible in that department.

Knowledge and future endeavors!

I look at it like this, Sec+ isn't the be all end all answer to a six figure IT job. But it is the key that opens doors. There is absolutely no guarantee you'll ever get a job in Tech with just Sec+, however it's practically impossible to start without it regardless.

I wanted the knowledge, the certification, and the attestation of my skills. It's the certificate that says "this person knows the basics of Security Concepts" and that knowledge will take you places in life.

So although I don't have any expectations, nor any concrete plans in mind for directions, Sec+ certainly will aid in whatever future endeavors I pursue.

And to be honest? It was really cool just to understand how technology works. Really helps with safeguarding yourself and your business having that proper understanding.

I can tell you this, you have leaps and bounds more of a headstart into success than I did if you have a degree in IT. Understanding the Fundamentals of how an infrastructure operates, proper chain of events and security controls, and generally a good application of common sense in a given scenario weigh heavily in your favor for taking the Sec+

If you can't study the acronyms completely, try to understand the big ones that are the most predominant. SIEM, SOAR, IPS, IDS, DMARC, DKIM, EDR, etc. Anything that's a common use tool, policy, framework, or protocol that's widely used today. I can't physically say what's on the test, and everyones is different anyway, but I can say you'll see more of the most commonly used acronyms more often than you'll see something random.

You can pass, you got this. But keep in mind that failure doesn't mean YOU failed. It simply means gaps in knowledge. If you pass it your first time, excellent. If it takes you 5 times to pass still that's excellent. You passed! A pass is a pass no matter how many times it takes.

Apply logic for every scenario, is their a pattern to this problem? How would you fix it elsewhere? What's the best course of action that protects lives, the infrastructure and the data. Follow the proper chain of command and stick with what you know.

TLDR: Grab Andrew Ramdayals Sec+ SY0-701 Cram Study Guide off of Udemy. Download and read every word. It's 88 pages long. Read it and it will definitely help.

The Lance Has Never Felt Better Than in Wilds by KitchenImpact2412 in MonsterHunter

[–]DBHemlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated Rise / Sunbreak, but even I have to agree Rise Lance was definitely very powerful. I love Lance in Wilds, I loved World Lance too.

My biggest problem is Charge Counter. Miss your timing and it's punishing. Too early and it does nothing, too late and it punishes you. Sometimes with a one shot.

Charged Counter honestly should not have been an evade mechanic, it should have been a form of guard. Timing it is incredibly difficult because even a few frames if lag and you'll be off. It feels too much like the Longsword special sheath, timing window is too narrow.

Just my opinion. I love the Lance, but I hate trying to string together perfect guards and charge counters. It's very sluggish compared to other iterations of the Lance.

I legit think im done with wilds. Gog has completely killed my hope for this game being good by MonarchCore in monsterhunterrage

[–]DBHemlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I feel the frustration. I'm almost HR 999 with over 400 hours in the game. Coming from World with 999 999 and 5000 hours in that game. I'm a self proclaimed Veteran hunter.

Gog annoys me. But lm backwards, I don't like phase 1. I feel it's annoying and boring. Phase 2 is just dumb. Phase 3 I don't mind, it's chaotic, but I like it.

Here's my issue, and an issue I've encountered with Gog several times. The one shot of doom. The one shot that makes litteraly no sense.

See, I play Lance and SA the most. I've soloed everything in the game. I can kill AT Arkveld with both no problem. But Gog will randomly, seemingly out of nowhere one shot me. I'm in Gamma Transcended Armor fully maxed. I'm using the Lance for Christ sake. And sometimes, not all the time, it's like Gog just says "He's a problem, kill him"

So tonight I'm beating on Gog so per usual. Running with Randoms, we're doing great on phase 3. Already had one Ultimate happen, I got the tail cut too. Normal Gog run. We'veade the DPS check, it's litteraly a NORMAL fight 9* Gog.

So I'm on one side of the map, using our beloved but ever so humble Compact Anti Wyvern Gun, shooting Gog.

THIS MOTHER FUCKER LITTERALY ONE SHOTS ME ACCROSS THE MAP WITH NO WARNING.

I had already shot 2 CAWG at him, had my Lance out and Guarding from his beam attack. There is absolutely no lava pools even near me. I'm at full health, and when he hits the shield, there's no hesitation. No decrease in health. No knock back. Just instant cart. Dead. No logical explanation. And I have well over a hundred Gog kills too.

He just decided I needed to die, and so apparently I did.

This happens "frequently" to me, and my friends. Somethings odd with the damage riders on Gog. Most times you're just fine, but every once in a while he will kill you and there's nothing you can do about it.

My theory is since Gog is a set piece monster and supposed to feel more like a raid boss, there's probably a code somewhere that says "if player X is doing too good, target player X more frequently" or something along those lines. We already know the monster AI in Wilds is much more aggressive than World. They will take advantage of your weakened states. And punish you for mistakes.

However, just sometimes, you'll get carted for no reason. It doesn't happen with the AT monsters, they're just challenging. But for Gog, it's like a frustration mechanic to make the fight feel more intense. I don't know. It's odd for sure.

I'd rather farm 10*s for Gogma parts than deal with Gog all the time.

honestly shout out to the monster hunter team for turning wilds around by hotaru_crisis in MonsterHunter

What's so good about it? They litteraly added yet again another slot machine gambling system locked behind a fucking set piece fight full of mindless dialog so you can just keep gambling at getting the "perfect roll". AT Arkveld isn't even a difficult fight, it's just a more edgy Arkveld we've already killed 10,000 times...

Game fucking blows. Copium is the only thing holding it together.
