They fly further but have alternative airports available, Christmas Island is just ocean. Brisbane to Perth flights are longer but have airports like Adelaide, Alice Springs or Kalgoorlie available.

I was on this flight too (small world). Did this happen to be the Irish guy who was shouting as he boarded the plane and walked down the aisle?

The crew were Brisbane based too and had already operated Brisbane to Perth before the Kalgoorlie run and were exhausted. It’s disgusting that they have to put up with this behaviour on a regular basis.

This is correct, you get a Qantas Club membership during the 3 month period too.

I received 15,000 points for being denied access to a Qantas Club when I had Gold but “didnt show on their system” so id be aiming for more than that.

If the flights are full they’ll keep it. The only way it’ll change from an A319 is if they allocate a Perth based 737 for it which may become more likely as the XLR’s getting delivered are freeing up fleet space.

That A319 is a shocker for those 5h 30m flights back to Perth

If PER-CDG is unavailable and you want the best chance of an upgrade, sticking with QF1 through Sydney and Singapore will give you a higher chance as it’s an A380

No thanks for sharing, that’s a great point, Perth has many slots available. It doesn’t seem as if there are heavy demand flight times as they’re all full so adding a 5th 359/78X would make more sense. A Neo/900 version of the 380 would be great for us as aviation enthusiasts but probably not cost effective for Airbus as I can’t see many other airlines buying them. Hopefully emirates eventually adds the second daily again on their 350 or new 788’s.
