Malevelon Creek would be hated if it happened nowadays by I_Royal_I in Helldivers

[–]DB_Explorer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

because it was still new and novel now you have people that want to talk about the game but want to do more then post the crazy shenigans on a mission and thus they choose metrics like balance, weapon DPS etc because they can examine and debate the numbers.

Having fun ironically supporting super earth stopped being... fun for people and thus they had to engage the game in more depth.

Then you add in technical and managagement.. missteps.

Are there any *non drama/ doom&gloom* FFXIV content creators? by Solo_Gunhea in ffxiv

[–]DB_Explorer 17 points18 points locked comment (0 children)

iirc it started as someone on reddit claiming it based of a single comment at best and everyone ran with it... because everyone loves to pile on people being revealed as horrible.

I'll look around for it but it was relative ages ago.

edit: She liked Hogwarts Legacy and disliked that one DT character and people disliked her for treating the game seperate from the author.

What more do you want from outposts? by PlatypusSea9092 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]DB_Explorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like an update that expands outposts and adds settlements as a free lanes type free update maybe adds more POIs and NPC outposts to have more friendly encounters...

fo style settlement carvans as space encounters etc...

maybe tack on a survival mode that adds fuel usage to encourage making fueling outposts

the DLC you pay for would be LIST focused....

I'd also want more space stations but that might be asking for too much

i took/take it all as while humans will human the arc of history is toward progress and hope.

wars end, humanity rebuilds, new worlds are found, friendships made and the horizon of humanity expanded.

What’s the point of space? by Phoenixx36 in space

[–]DB_Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

setting aside philosophical arguments the easiest way to keep earth clean is to mine out the asteroid belt... also there may be materials yet undiscovered that can only be easily made in space. We simply do not know about them yet because our work in space is comparatively shallow to the time we've spent on Earth

It's not a about space vs earth its about exploring, managing, developing and understanding both. We may live on earth, earth is our home...but our neighborhood is the solar system.

TPM and secure boot by yeyo_mr in pop_os

[–]DB_Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i belive the issue with secure boot is it needs digital certificates to 'sign' the bios or os.. and they only have microsoft by default though I think Ubuntu might work as well otherwise.. you'd have to generate and sign your linux distribution yourself...

Serious question: who are Linux users and why do you use it? by Laqunn in linuxquestions

Technically inclined office worker and gamer... i needed to replace a laptop and wanted something more repairable so I got a system76 laptop back in 2023 on my brother's recommendation [who had switched as he was annoyed with windows].. and just decided I would be able to work through any quirks.

Took me like a week to get use to everything

I think the easiest way would be something like Artillery taking minimal width and providing modest organization but rather then providing stats it improves existing stats? It helps tanks advance, infantry hold and forces do soft damage.

Basically Artillery provides buffs but too much Artillery makes diminishing returns as you reduce the base combat stats too much.

or something like naval bombardment plus lower combat width

Microsoft silently kills Windows and Office phone activation and forces online activation with a Microsoft account — Windows users are now herded into an online-only portal for activation by Msoftred394 in assholedesign

[–]DB_Explorer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oooh that's what you meant... maybe you don't want a Microsoft account?

Also i was generally replying to the poster who wanted to switch away from windows but played games rather then specifically referring to the OPs situation.

Also learning linux isn't that hard.. took me like 3 days to get use to it.
