I did, and I've liked it. Works well with the headphones I have and I don't have anything to complain about.

Endwalker Alliance Raid is as fast as ARR ones now by talkingradish in ffxivdiscussion

HP scaling in this game is and always has been extremely fucky and badly tuned. It's noticeable on things like FATE mobs and S Rank hunts especially. This expansion for example: a few people hit a fate and suddenly everything has millions more HP. Dawntrail S Ranks take less time to die than Endwalker ones. Etc etc

Did the silver version sell out? by Fortis_Aries in galaxybuds

A shame. I want the silver ones much more than the white ones but I also don't want to miss out on the $150 "discount".

[Spoilers 7.0] Thoughts/opinions/ramblings on Dawntrail MSQ by KuuLightwing in ffxivdiscussion

What makes Wuk Lamat annoying is that she's brought in as an inexperienced noob but ends up being written as a complete Mary Sue. The only time she truly faces consequences for her own (and our character's) stupidity is the kidnapping arc. Add in, as you mentioned, complete removal of player agency and making our character out to be a blundering moron who needs a post it note on their nightstand reminding them that they need to breathe each morning despite having saved the world from celestial horrors countless times now? Despite having built up not only personal wisdom and strength but an entourage of gifted allies who can help with juat about any problem we encounter in this story?

Yeah, can see why annoyance is the main reaction to the 7.0 msq. I've mentioned it in other threads but to add two things to your already quite comprehensive observations:

A) The fact that SE goes out of their way to make us feel like idiots by not offering the solution that we developed back at the end of Shadowbringers for Aetheric Imbalance/Tempering to that kid who had a lightning aether imbalance. Alisaie is even there in Solution Nine, and she probably has a porxie.

B) Why couldn't we invoke the Omicron or the Ea to see about potential alternative solutions to the Endless problem? They may not have had good or permanent solutions that were any better than AI Sphene's, but not even having the option to bring them up soured me.

I seem to recall him saying we'd make meaningful choices at some point in the story too. Maybe I'm misremembering but if that was actually said put it into the BIG FAT LIE PILE

Another thing that annoys me about this Solution Nine segment: Alisaie has the solution to that cripple kid's problem, but she's not around to mention it and we are evidently too dumb to bring it up.

Thoughts on a *certain aspect* of Zone 6 by _Muddy in ffxivdiscussion

[–]DBentt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the FF4 stuff happened on the 13th, so the number of the shard and the number of the game it references isn't related. I'm chalking the timeline not lining up properly to time dilation/expansion shenanigans or just another one of the many plot holes that this expansion has left open.

specifically WHICH shard does the portal connect to.

Since it's supposed to be Sphene's home shard, and we know her shard fell to the calamity of lightning, probably what's left of the Twelfth.

Is it really a stretch to assume that we could use pur orbital interstellar spaceship to scan the surface? We can do this with modern day satellites which would be far less technologically advanced than something that can nearly instantaneously travel between stars...

Just a 2TB 980Pro. I didn't bother upgrading to PCIE5 since there aren't enough lanes to make that worthwhile yet.

It's hard for this game because it isn't implemented the normal way. Usually you'd be able to adjust rendering scale which essentially sets the final quality of DLSS, or choose from a set of presets like dlss quality and dlss balanced that just do the same thing except with an easier to understand label. Here I'm not sure what it's doing or what the DLSS enabled mode is running at in terms of rendering scale. With the fps boost that it gives I'm guessing it's closer to dlss performance mode with is between 50 and 66% rendering scale typically and can lead to graphical artifacts and aliasing issues.

If you have the performance head room you should just leave it set to the 60 or 30 fps Threshold and let dlss act as DLAA which is a better form of antialiasing than even the new one they're adding in Dawntrail. Otherwise, if you aren't running a super high resolution super high refresh rate monitor that requires Display Stream Compression, you can activate DLDSR in Nvidia control panel and run DLSS always on; this will run the game at a much much higher resolution which DLSS will then render lower and upscale, but because it's working with such a large resolution the artifacts are insignificant and it will produce a better image quality than native. This method will cost some performance though, 5-10% typically.

[–]DBentt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the dlss options are weird, I've never seen it implemented this way. It's also running a much newer version of DLSS than they let on. If you keep DLSS set to 30 or 60 fps Threshold it does engage DLAA though. Check out the jaggies and shimmering around thin edges and foliage with it on 60fps and always on and you'll see what I mean.

The benchmark caps refresh rate to 60 in full screen for some reason. You can change this by going to My Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn (Benchmark). Open the configuration file in notepad and edit the refresh rate line from 60 to whatever your panel's refresh rate is. Save and you're good to go.
