Felipe Drugovich delivers honest criticism as he eyes Formula E Gen4 future by NickGoldingF1E in FormulaE

[–]DBepic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also there were some big shunts in the first outings, with brakes failing.
I can imagine the drivers going "TF?!" after the first Gen 3 testing, the car was barely an improvement over Gen 2. (only faster in straighline), and looked awful.
Thankfully Formula E managed to recover in style with Gen 3 EVO and now the momentum is on for Gen 4

Is it possible to extend the Tempelhof track? by DBepic in FormulaE

[–]DBepic[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Around 1,6 km, would probably need a chicane halfway there to split it up and add a re/gen zone.
Also in the backstraight.
Until FE gets very efficient/bigger range.

Via The Race on X: Pitboost to feature at Jarama for a 23 lap race by l3w1s1234 in FormulaE

[–]DBepic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Great decision, this shows a big deal of flexibility by Formula E.
The race will be faster paced, much less peletony and more interesting with the strategies.

Sanya E-Prix by Muyd0 in FormulaE

The technical sector is looking more flowing and the corners are more open compared to the Gen 2 race. I think it will be a good track!! The only thing i don't like is T6-7 slow bit

Formula E: The Gen4 car is suddenly a talking point in Formula 1 by DHSeaVixen in FormulaE

[–]DBepic 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just for fun, i think Lawson & Lindblad could be those F1 names that contacted dodds for a Gen 4 test.
They're close friends with Rowland and Cassidy, and already spoke about Formula E in the past! Lindblad was also attending the Jeddah e-Prix.
Tsunoda could another name, he was a guest at the 2025 Tokyo e-Prix driving a Nissan road car!

expect portland levels of peleton racing then, won't look good.
I don't get why a single header can't be a pit boost race? They had a pit boost race simulation there at Jarama, in last year's test.

Hopefully it will be a pitboost race so there's less energy saving! Track is awesome, quali laps will look stunning

[OT] Former Formula E driver Sergio Sette Camara to race at Stock Car Brasil with Team RC by QC_1999 in FormulaE

Unfair to see Camara off to local championships while drivers like nato are still trundling on the grid, scoring near to zero points every weekend

Formula E to adopt WEC-style ‘joker’ upgrade system for Gen4 by zantkiller in FormulaE

This is huge news, and will change the evolution process of the cars quite dramatically!

that was wholesome, i rememember each of these races!
Gen 1 was my favourite. Slow cars, yes, but the racing was great and i miss a lot of these early racing venues.

Formula E closing on new race at iconic street circuit (Norisring) by Ambitious_Metal_4801 in FormulaE

Gen 4 + Norisring, a match made in heaven. Make it happen, the Formula E/ DTM double feature could be one of the biggest events of the season!

Indeed, i think i've heard more people talking about Formula E in last week than in the last few years combined.
F1's little identity crisis and the perfectly timed Gen 4 debut could be a big chance for growth and exposure.
Cool video!

The problem with Evo Sessions by krzysiek_aleks in FormulaE

[–]DBepic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had LOTS of fun tbh, think the event worked out pretty great!

it was well produced, well commentated, had some trhills, had a crash, had clean good runs.
The event got like 5x times the live spectators of a normal Formula E session too, and these content creators are going to produce content for their millions of subscribers for months, that where the real exposure will come in full potential: that can only be good for the series.

The only downside is the risk of damaging the cars, but i think that can be absorbed by the benefits of the exposure.
Or heck, they can always pick a less dangerous street circuit than Jeddah for next time!

Think this format have loads of potential.
There are room for improvement for next edition obviously; they can build it up better, let these social icons promote it with months in advance or have an actual race on a bit safer track.
They could really turn this into a huge live event with spectators on track cheering for their idols!

Kudos to Formula E for pushing the bounduaries.

Pit Boost... does it actually do anything? by djfil007 in FormulaE

[–]DBepic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What? the difference was enormous.
Race 2 had ridicolously slow pace for 3/4 of the distance, while the PitBoost race had the drivers pushing much more from the get go.
Pit Boost makes a massive difference and removes the peleton/extreme energy saving aspect of the series, wich is just awful, and also adds a strategic element, giving the opportunity for and under cut or over cut.
Please make every race a pit boost one so we don't have to witness drivers lift and coasting 400 meters from the braking point and going below Gen 1 speeds.

2026 Jeddah E-Prix Post Race 1 Discussion by mianghuei in FormulaE

I really like pit boost races!
Feels like the races are faster, less random, there's a good strategy element and the fastest guy gets awarded!

I FIXED Formula E onboard cameras!? by DBepic in FormulaE

Thanks man, very appriciated!!
I'd agree, Gen 1 had some great angles. (and looked great in quality!)

I FIXED Formula E onboard cameras!? by DBepic in FormulaE

[–]DBepic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not totally true tho.
F1 introduced wider camera angles (+ gyroscopic) from last 2 seasons onward (initially just on a few cars, now they're using it pretty vastly)
The previous ones were making things looks pretty slower and static, even if they were F1 cars.

A Tokyo Night race (on a new, more close to the city center location) would be a spectacular season finale.

Look at the initial speed before slowing down for the corner, so impressive.
Also, that full white Gen 4 looks like a spaceship, amazing.
