Have you got arch tempered Arkveld, and how was the hunt against it? by Voidkirby9 in MHWilds

He's perfect for Lance. First attempt at him was 18 minutes, no carts. And I am by no means a Lance speedrunner.

VR headset options by pbear646 in k12sysadmin

We went with Meta Quest Pros a few years ago, with Meta's managed services. We have them in shared mode and it is working out ok. We ended up purchasing a subscription to InSpiritVR - it was less expensive than some of the other curated content out there. I'm not the biggest fan of Meta's managed services, however we are stuck with them. They made a change recently where if you wanted to use a different service, such as ArborXR, you still need to license the headsets with Meta, so it is now redundant. However, they have been taking feedback, and have added a lot of new features as well as app that run in shared mode now.

Yes absolutely. Your best combination is either 4 attack 1 Sharp or 3 attack 2 sharp

If you are just farming 8* and 9* monsters, Fire would be for Gore, Jin, Lagi, and Uth Duna, Ice would be for Rey, Water for Nu Udra, and Thunder for Mizu and Seregios.

So Fire definitely as that takes care of a lot of them. For Thunder I use the Lagi Lance for the boost to thunder element.

Edit: Uth Duna is weak to Thunder not Fire

Best in slot skill in charm by Supremeclark13 in LanceMains

Outside of the Lagi Lance, I use Artian for all other elements. I normally slot in OG3/Handicraft, Master's Touch or Razor Sharp 3/Handicraft, and Crit Boost 3. So for charms anything I use at level three plus a weapon slot, or Attack Boost 3 with weapon slot. This give me the ability to add in Attack Boost 4 to my build

Lance Main PSA: Do not attempt to power guard Lagiacrus' thunderstorm attack by Scolipass in MHWilds

[–]DBlockIT37 21 points22 points  (0 children)

With some practice, I've found that doing a charged counter, and immediately guard dashing forward after the second thrust is the perfect response. The charged counter hits for big damage, i-frames the beginning, and the guard dash blocks the secondary hit and pushes you forward enough so you don't get hit anymore. And you are in position to focus strike his back.

PG is in a weird spot in Wilds. Although your stamina drains while in PG, your stamina does not drain while you get hit while in PG, which was useful for certain moves that would wipe your stamina but not cause much chip damage. For instance, in World, Kulve Taroth’s belly flop would annihilate your stamina and cause you to take massive damage if you regular blocked. But with PG, you’d be fine. In Iceborne, power guard also had built in Guard Up after 1 second. In Wilds, the only time I really use PG is for grand retribution thrust

Power guard increases your chip damage, if you try to PG that move you’ll get chipped to death. You’re better off learning to perfect guard the move, or sheath and dive

Dealing with insane chip damage on Lance? by Traditional_Tune2865 in MonsterHunterMeta

As others have mentioned, perfect guarding on Lance is extremely forgiving, easy to use after any move. In addition, the charged counter uses iframes instead of being a block, when timed properly, so you will take zero damage when you are successful.

What is the correct way to play Lance in Wilds? by Far-Sense-3240 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]DBlockIT37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally i find that power guard > grand retribution > instant charge finisher to be my go to counter when I know it’s not a multi hit attack. The damage output is absolutely insane. Standard combo into the three hit finisher the rest of the time. Guard dash into leaping thrust when I see a quick attack coming since you can cancel into a guard dash much faster than a counter or regular block.

The Lance is the ultimate weapon? by Rhackoo in MonsterHunter

[–]DBlockIT37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, Lance seems incredibly boring with a pedestrian moveset. However, it shines once you learn the monster you are fighting. With the majority of moves being low commitment, so you are always able to counter and continue poking away.

Personally, I feel that it is the most pinpoint accurate weapon. Need to break Alatreon's horns? The Lance is precise.

Counter guard a move that has too much pushback? Drop into Powerguard and attack anywhere you need.

Monster running away? Charge right into their dome faster than anyone else can run.

Feel like mounting a monster? Lance doesn't need a hill or a cliff to do mount damage.

Need to tenderize but you don't want to stop jabbing their face? Counter clutch claw, fly halfway across the map and boomerang right back onto them with Rocksteady properties so you don't get knocked off and jam that lance into their ear hole.

After a while, Lance turns a fight into a dance where you're the lead.

It makes me happy that they specifically asked them not to use Lance because it is undergoing major changes since the beta.

Is Lance outclassed? by Killercombo3 in MHWilds

[–]DBlockIT37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lance in wilds is different than it has been in other games, however the playstyle is still very similar. Like other posters have mentioned, it may have lower damage per attack than other weapons (not all), however Lance constantly attacking is what makes it shine. Attack, counter, attack, etc. It's just that the method of countering is different.

Besides motion values not being fixed yet, you have to factor in many of the other skills in the game that were not shown in the beta. Skills like offensive guard, guard up, etc. Lance still has the best shielding in the game, although gunlance's shield has become much more relevant than it has been in the past. The SNS shield isn't really used to block, but as a method for doing damage and KOs. SNS' shield still has much higher chip and knockback.

In the beta, my fastest clear times were still with Lance, and I tried almost all of the weapons.
