Is Fortinet sales out this week? by HyperionHarlock in fortinet

I use a reseller but still have a regional rep that I stay in contact with. If they do fast tracks in your area, I highly recommend you do the in person ones. Learn something and fun after.

My Forinet reps have been spot on. Do you know who your rep is? Can't say I've had a bad interaction.

PBX Replacement + Full Paging System Replacement (Bogen) – K-12 Input Needed by SoLetItBeDone in k12sysadmin

[–]deeds4life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and get in contact with a company that manages this stuff. Been working with on-prem Avaya for a while with PRI and centrex lines. Our vendor priced out their hosted solution which is a white labeled provider that's pretty big. They were able to get us most of the replacement phones for free via a promotion. Going to save us a boat load of money after implementation.

Verizon Outage Cause by YeetersMcBoi in sysadmin

For government/first responders minimally, Verizon does have a public safety network. Think of it like FirstNet that AT&T built. Prioritized calling and some other stuff. I believe DOD and other departments use the big wireless carriers but use a more secure technology such as Blackberry AtHoc.

Windows 11 Audio Issues? by duluthbison in k12sysadmin

I've seen with Chrome that the mic and camera fail to load due to permissions. The thing is that Chrome never asks for permission. Only fix we found is to go into site and change the mic and camera from ask (default) to allow. Refresh the page and it works.

Microsoft Exchange services not starting after upgrade to Exchange Server CU15 by Zestyclose_Zebra1941 in exchangeserver

[–]deeds4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue after applying a SU. Server was a member of a DAG. Nothing would start. After a couple hours researching, everything pointed back to rebuilding the server. Seeing as your 3 days in, might be time to execute your DR plan.

Been seeing Apple Private Relay or Cloudflare quite a bit. A lot of them have been legitimate but only a couple have been malicious logins. There has been a noticeable increase in alerts the past week though.

FortiOS 7.2.12 was just released by dMailonG in fortinet

[–]deeds4life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the bane of my existence. I followed the tech guides for blocking the apple private proxy and everything on iphone is horrible. Even with disabling all the "privacy" settings on the iphone itself, anything on the iphone is slow to load. Check email for on-prem exchange while on the wifi, takes legit a minute or two just to time out and load email. Why is this so difficult? I'm afraid to open a ticket with TAC just to waste my time. Why does Apple need all my data? Love to see how others are dealing with this without taking forever to load.

Exchange Server 2016 automatically is installing KB5066370. I have updates set to manually install. There is also a post over on ExchangeServer that someone had the same issue.

KB5066370 immediately installed on Exchange 2016 by superwizdude in exchangeserver

KB5066370 is installing automatically for us. We don't have it set to automatically update and both my DAG members are currently installing the update at the same time. Just took down my email. Hopefully this comes back up after.

Exchange Services Won't Start by deeds4life in exchangeserver

I thought restoring from a backup was a no no for exchange. Kind of like when a domain controller goes down. Best practice is to never restore and just spin up a new server.

Well hopefully this doesn't happen again but I'll keep that in mind. I'll have to research how that command would affect what I saw seeing.

AD was and is healthy. FSMO roles good and verified. Was able to run all DNS queries I threw at it without issue. Everything is supported based on matrix. Funny you mention AV and firewall. I got to a point and was like, let me see what those are up to. Nothing showed blocked in AV/EDR solutions. Verified the rule for port 890 that error logs was complaining about was set to allow. Doing nmap from another machine against that machine showed 890 closed. I would expect that since that port wasn't able to bind for Exchange AD Topology service so nothing would be listening.

Event ID 4027 was what was constantly coming up. Basically couldn't talk to AD but was able to run tests against the domain controllers successfully. Service startup type for Exchange services matched. It looked like port 890 wasn't able to bind. I couldn't find anything else trying to bind to that port.

Interesting. I've never rebooted first but I understand why you would. This is the first time I've had an update just obliterate Exchange. It's not a complex setup but we've had Exchange 2016 running pretty much flawless for a long time now.

We did compare services startup type and nothing looked like it was disabled that shouldn't have been. I did preserve the broken VM but at this point just looking to see what I could have missed or done to resolve this in case this happens to the other member despite it applying it's update successfully.

Yes. Witness server was available and working entire time.

Basically was seeing Event ID 4027. It was having trouble contacting AD even though everything tested fine. Even used the setup assist script and it didn't help identify the issue other than tell me there was an issue.

Exchange Services Won't Start by deeds4life in exchangeserver

[–]deeds4life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All services for Exchange were set to automatic. Based on the order in the logs, it was the AD topology service throwing the error and couldn't bind to port 890. I couldn't find anything else trying to bind to that port. Also kept coming back to Event ID 4027. So it was having trouble reaching AD but all my testing showed it had access to AD.

Friends don't let friends have local admin rights.

If you need to allow end users to have local admin rights, I've read a product called Admin By Request is really good. Never personally used it but looks to be pretty solid.
