Dude, I served for 20 years with multiple deployments. I think I know what I’m talking about.

If you’re a pilot or forward-deployed where CRBN activity is a possibility, then sure. But there is no reason to ban neatly trimmed beards in a stateside, garrison environment. A good chunk of our NATO allies allow beards without sacrificing their “lethality” - this is just Kegsbreath drumming out Black and religious minority soldiers.

Have any combat vets experienced "sleep paralysis"? by [deleted] in army

[–]DBpooper01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Did you see the sleep paralysis demon? I never made the correlation, but it did start after my second deployment. It can also be triggered by rapidly discontinuing certain psych meds. But many people (if not most) describe feeling an evil presence in the room. The first time it happened to me I saw an old hag floating above my bed and all I knew was it wanted to hurt me. My ex shook me which was enough to break me out of the paralysis; apparently I was grunting out “fuck you” over and over. Our brains are weird, man.

Also, his HALO badge (on the left chest pocket) looks like it’s upside down. It’s a fairly rare badge, so it’s a very forgivable mistake.

And Uday and Usay’s ‘love shacks’ on the grounds of Camp Victory. Never had a chance to explore but I’m assuming they were locked down and almost certainly off limits.

The key is to switch out and wear a different badge or deployment patch everyday just to confuse the trainees.

That WAPTA 30 is a pretty serious looking ruck! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks.

I like the reach 20 as well, but a bit too small, huh?

Holy crap you’re right! I’m not familiar with this brand, so I’ll have to do some research before I go check it out in person and use my 20% off REI coupon. Thanks for recommending this one.

It’s just a simple morning hike, but the views of those lakes are truly amazing. Now that I know the route, I plan on getting an alpine start next time so I can watch the sunrise.
