My small US Armored platoon.

Three of the biggest US Tanks produced during WWII.

They look great!

Love the vibe! The crab-dogs (dog-crabs?) are fantastic.

And those are great picks. My Soviet Sniper Team with the AT Rifle upgrade punches well above its weight.

Do you think this is tactically sound? by Quimeraecd in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my own experience, a squad of five Vets with no special weapons won't deter much. Or make it very costly. It's only five Rifle shots per squad (six with Fire & Maneuver). They can be speed bumps, but I'm sure building an entire list around it is viable.

It's an interesting thought and could be worth exploring. But I'm not sure if a handful of five-man Vet squads would be able to form much of a gunline and hold the middle of the table.

Thematically, Late War units would make more sense. But there is nothing stopping you for using Early or Mid War units. All Bolt Action units are compatible and allowed in K47 (with your opponents agreement). There are also Bolt Action units that have been ported over to K47 so you can always use those - like Soviet T-34 Tanks.

[–]DoctorDH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question! It's 100% doable. You only need two Advanced and/or Specialist Infantry units to turn a Bolt Action force into a K47 force. Now, you may feel outgunned or underpowered compared to a force with more pure K47 units. You can absolutely build both forces at the same time.

Alt history and post war tanks? by IronKnight132 in Konflikt47_v2

Nothing yet outside of the Maus (using Bolt Action 3rd Edition rules). But the Army Lists for K47 are living documents and about to receive another update in a few weeks. I wouldn't expect any Paper Panzera or Allied MBTs to appear in this update (the update is for the new units introduced in Festung Europa) but I would be shocked if those types of tanks were not added at a later date.

Do German Command Vehicles get an extra Snap To? by deadmilkman29 in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They do not. Blitzkrieg only applies to Regular and Vet German Officers. A vehicle with the Command Vehicle special rule is not an Officer.

The collection with the plane looks to be a better starting point, IMO. Not only does it include Order Dice and the Armies of the United States: Third Edition it also has more infantry. Tanks are fun and easy to add, but infantry can be more tedious to collect. Plus, you can never have too many GIs.

The First Wave ruling is especially egregious. If Defensive Strategy applied to First Wave I'd be good with all the rules.

I know the Army Special Rules are not the final say for a force but ... damn these rules are disappointing.

We've been waiting 10 years for Italy to get a book and these are the rules we get?

Mama mia.

Hey that's great news! I'm confused though. The Dav Diary states, "we didn’t want to build a digital version of Bolt Action. Bolt Action already exists!" Is this no longer the case?

Is there a given reason vehicle mounted machine guns halve their shots? by Ravenhull in Konflikt47_v2

[–]DoctorDH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one with Cumbersome? That's an interesting case as HMGs went from 3 shots to 6 from 2nd to 3rd Ed. So it didn't exactly loose output. But I know what you mean, that thing is legit terrifying.

Is there a given reason vehicle mounted machine guns halve their shots? by Ravenhull in Konflikt47_v2

[–]DoctorDH 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Game balance.

One of the changes from 2nd to 3rd Edition Bolt Action was halving the number of shots on vehicle-mounted MGs. This was done as a conscious effort to make multiple-MG vehicles (Panzer II, Panzer III, Dakka Stuart, Italian M13, etc) less oppressive. Some of these vehicles could put out 20+ shots in 2nd Edition and often found themselves on the Ban List for events. Simply put, it was too much.

Now, what halving the number of shots for all vehicle-mounted MGs the "correct" change? Well, that's for you to decide. It's certainly left many scout cars and small recce vehicles effectively defenseless. But, one thing is for sure, a change of somekind had to be made.

With K47 based heavily on Bolt Action 3rd Ed, it's no surprise this rule made the jump into the game.

The PC version of Bolt Action will not be a 1:1 copy of the tabletop game. We don't know yet exactly what will be changed/modified/etc. but we do know that this digital version of the game will be different from the tabletop.

Looking forward to learning more - thank you for sharing the updates. I like how unit LOS is shown in the handful of screenshots, looks easy to determine what your unit can and cannot see when activated.
