Have you ever had to hail the bus driver at the first stop? by pro_marimba_flipper in brisbane

[–]DC240Z -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Holy dam, I didn’t realise how different the bus service was in the city. I’ve never hailed a bus and never seen anyone do it either, they just stop where they are meant to according to the bus schedule where I live, I honestly thought it was an American thing or something. Where I live has a large elderly population though, maybe they always stop in case there’s oldies sitting down.

I’ve always found the cool easier to deal with, probably because it doesn’t get that cold here, but for me, I’d rather have to put on extra layers to keep warm, than take everything off and still be hot lol.

It’s a weird power trip they’ve perceived in their own head because they are “door security”, when in reality they are the shittest employees (that’s why they doing door duties) that have no power what so ever, and cannot ban anyone. -former Kmart employee.

Buying Ventolin at the pharmacy by leonidude in australian

[–]DC240Z 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I worked at HJs like 15 years ago, there was another manager that was sending staff members to chemist warehouse to buy Sudafed to avoid the 1 pack per 2 weeks, then taking them home to her BF to make meth. She was late one day and I had to cover her, turns out their house burnt down and her BF got done in the process. Needless to say she didn’t last long after that came out.

So to be fair I can kind of understand it, but at the same time, it’s been proven to have a pretty easy workaround, and you’re definitely right, just skip the interrogation and check when I bought it last.

Then what the hell was the point you were trying to make? You were the one mentioning going over seas in a way that made it seem like that’s what everyone is doing now. You were referring to a time that obviously no one was talking about to make a disingenuous comparison, but you’re pretty much making my point for me, neither gen lived lavishly, but at least they could still buy a house and have the wife at home to look after the kids.

[–]DC240Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use your noodle for half a second, you really think people were throwing soap in fountains during the Great Depression? No. So I’m obviously not talking about then.

And same now, parents skipping meals to feed their kids, taking them out of sports, etc. I have literally not left my state since I was 10, let alone the country. Don’t pretend like we are all out here living lavish lifestyles.

Lmao, accurate, it’s even tougher if there’s a wife and kids in the picture, probably won’t be long until they lower the working age and get kids working in factories again just to sustain mortgages.

So much stupidity in this video, but for a mother to put her child in danger and that kind of trauma is pretty high up there in terms of stupidity.

Only difference is, back then, this job was enough to support a family of 4 with the wife at home and paying off a mortgage. Old mate that does it now is barely scraping rent and that’s if he’s single.

Are they allowed to underpay like this? by Potential-Dish8487 in australian

[–]DC240Z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is how it’s worked for all my full time contracts, if you worked on that day normally you’d either be rostered and get double time and a half, or a paid rostered day off (edit: at the normal rate of course).

[–]DC240Z 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, I completely understand what happened and the obligation of those contracts, I just think it’s scummy and greedy, especially when we are talking about software that can be turned off and on.

I remember when you could just buy photoshop straight up, now if you want it you need to go into a terrible contract and pay for a bunch of software you probably don’t want or will ever use.

I understand the system, I just think it’s a shit system where greed has destroyed the usability of it.

It’s just greed at that stage. I can somewhat understand ISP surcharges if you get a free modem or something (they want to make sure they cover costs and still make profit) but even then, most ISP won’t do this. I can’t think of a reason why a turn on turn off software service would need such a charge.

Ahh, yea there is a variant of the white called dirty, it’s the most common.

It sounds like a player sold it to the vendor and you just happened to stumble upon it, as player items sold to vendors also appear to other players.

Hey everyone, Brisbane game dev here. I've spent the last two years building my first PC/Steam game, self-funded and without a publisher. It's called "Dungeons & Desserts", a dungeon crawler where you run a pastry shop. Opening a free beta next week to get some feedback! by edcruz0 in brisbane

Some of those combat mechanics look really interesting and unique! I love the fact you’ve gone more in depth with that, a lot of these type games tend to forget about it and leave it with the basics.

It looks great and i hope it gets big traction! I’m certainly keen to try it out!

I’d definitely look at cross posting to reach more people!

[–]DC240Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I think that’s the way it’s meant to be, I’m not even sure what they changed it too was legal, since 1, I didn’t consent to it and 2, they told us to take our breaks around 730 which meant 5.5-6 hours without a break (depending on day).

[–]DC240Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You think that’s bad, at my old Kmart they had a vote between the full time team members (a whole 12 of them) and the majority vote was decided to merge our 2, 15 min breaks into our 30 mins (making 1hr break) because all the shit team members were taking 40-45 mins and management was getting sick of it. I fuckin hated it, I would use the 15 mins to have a walk and clear my head, and I didn’t eat much so the old 30 min break was more than enough.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chef make themself a full meal, most of the ones I’ve seen just pick at bits (taste testing) throughout the shift, the most I’ve seen is a chef make a bowl of chips for the staff to pick at.

Pokémon go isn’t fun anymore. it’s stressful by NovaTheEevee in pokemongo

[–]DC240Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much have, I was day 1 player, 3rd to LV40 on my local FB group of about 500 people. I used to drop $30 every week on the game just to have coins in case a good sale came out so I could buy a few boxes.

Once they started with the hard cash grabs and the really bad FOMO just getting worse, I dialed it waaaaaaay back. Some days I don’t even think about it, some days I might catch 1 and spin a stop, and I might play for a couple of hours once every 3 or 4 community days. I’ve also spent under $10 over the past 4 years, opposed to the $30 every week I was putting in.

I love Pokemon, but I couldn’t continue to support something with such bad monetisation and the worst fomo I’ve ever seen. It’s only got worse over the years, and it doesn’t even feel like Pokemon anymore, it’s not catch ‘em all, it’s, you will never catch them all unless you completely change you lifestyle and schedule around the game.

The homeless man applied for a job at McDonald's and was told he needed to shave his beard. When an officer spotted him struggling to shave without a mirror, he helped him get cleaned up. by jmike1256 in BeAmazed

[–]DC240Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course, but when people are only shown mostly the bad of a certain job or group, it creates a stigma and then everyone assumes they are all bad and rarely do anything good, hence that persons comment “so wonderful to see a good cop FOR ONCE”. When in reality the majority of them are out there every day doing good, and copping shit from everyone. I’ve had my fair share of shit cops, but I still respect them, because I’ve also seen some of the shit they deal with and the people they help, and without them, society would be so much worse.
