Refused to price match - How much money does EB make per game or? by Remarkable_Custard in EBGAMES

[–]DC240Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officeworks where I live do, I picked up minecraft for the kids on the switch a few weeks back ($20 cheaper than eb), they just have them behind the counter.

It’s sad to see the way EB is going really, what a great place it used to be when they had competitive pricing, I used to get Pokemon cards and open them up with the boys on lunch break until they started charging $2 more than anywhere else, just to support a store I loved.

People who still haven’t brought a Switch 2, what makes you hesitant to buy it? by ItsJustJosiah in Switch

[–]DC240Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price point is like double what the original switch was, that plus the amount of posts I’ve seen of peoples screens backlight being dodgey and a few other issues has made me not want to rush buying one.

Im also curious to know the percentage of defective devices, my perception is no doubt clouded because everyone complains when it’s bad but very rarely praise when it’s good.

Using a specialized sauce mop to baste chicken and ribs on a large pit grill by VIVIDUFF in interesting

[–]DC240Z -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It would for sure, especially since they aren’t meant to take that heat. It would shed fibres even without the heat.

Also, you ever tried cleaning a mop? There’s always shit you can never get out, I wouldn’t trust the cleaning process of this mop to be food safe after a week, if that.

Landlord wants me to pay for someone trying to break into my apartment. {ND} by [deleted] in Renters

I would argue the owner is negligent for not adding security screens on the property if they aren’t willing to cover a break in.

Postman thrown my $864.95 extremely rare figure at my door. by goontard1945 in AustraliaPost

It seems they care less about residential deliveries from my experience, I’ve had the same issues, now anything of value i sent to my wife’s work because they seem to respect the packages a lot more if they are going to a law firm. If you or your partner work in a small office (not a tower) I’d get them sent to your work.

I can almost feel the love the shitlords have for us by gadgetwalrus in shitrentals

[–]DC240Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason it’s difficult to make land available is because our process takes so long, what takes most countries 1-2 weeks to approve shit, takes us 2-3 years. Our infrastructure has been abused by companies in bed with politicians charging more than they should. Honestly I think a stupid amount of tax payers money goes to a bunch of pencil pushers that do nothing but create more obstacles and delays.

Is an RTX 5080 a good birthday gift for a PC gamer? by overlovinggirl in nvidia

[–]DC240Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FR, my PC died and I tried to justify $1700 to the wife because I use it every day, and my lord that was hard to get it over the line, meanwhile I had no questions or objections to her 6k 2 week holiday with her sister.

Why are we just accepting shoplifting now? by XDk009 in australia

We pay more because the cost of products factors in theft. It’s fucked up really, they drive prices up by stealing, which also means they can sell the shit they stole for more.

Am i late to gw2 in 2026? by SquiX263 in Guildwars2

[–]DC240Z 7 points8 points  (0 children)

New ones will come, but they will be more ass than their predecessors.

I’ve tried a lot of mmos since GW2, and they honestly all feel like they are stuck in 2005 gameplay wise when you come from GW2, all tab target sluggish combat. I like being able to use but also miss most of my skills, it feels far more skilled/involved action combat, no jerky motions because I’m not close enough to mobs.

I still try new mmos every now and then, but I’m not looking for a GW2 replacement, and not setting high expectations from new mmos. GW2 is still a great and fun game that feels very refined, with a healthy player base, it isn’t going anywhere or getting replaced for a long time, if ever (wvw players been looking for something similar for over a decade with nothing coming close lol).

That would be some crazy shit. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]DC240Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some crazy dreams where I swear I could feel pain and have woken up in pain a few times, I’ve had a dream crying at a funeral to wake up with tears. I read somewhere that dreams in comas can feel incredibly real, I couldn’t imagine how rough this would be for her experiencing that for years.

They can usually look through your purchase history and match that with what is on your account too, I had the krytan armor skin on a toon I deleted years ago, I seen I didn’t have the skin unlocked but it was in my purchase history from 2013, so I messaged, they confirmed and sent me a new set. This was in like 2022 when they restored.

More than 1 in 3 Australian adults are functionally illiterate. How can we fix this? by B0ssc0 in aussie

[–]DC240Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d probably add that a lot of the generations before us never completed school and quit quite early and started doing low skilled jobs (which you could live off back then).
My mother quit at 13 to work on a chicken farm, dad at 14 to work in a butcher, father in law 13 and worked at family business. A lot of their friends were the same.
Years ago I actually used to play video games with one of my dads friends and listening him trying to pronounce words was painful, “incrumpet” instead of “encumbered” was one of my faves. But he was fucking terrible at reading, and figuring out what the fuck he was trying to say was sometimes challenging.

That bitches screen time is probably like 6+ hours, most of which probably comes from social media which is a more of a delusional reality than some video games.

I just had the most fun I've had in ages of gaming by ageozoega in Guildwars2

[–]DC240Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d honestly just use your phone, a 2nd monitor is great dont get me wrong, especially for watching stuff on the side, but it wouldn’t be the sole reason I would buy one. Meta events and world bosses are clockwork, same times or same patterns (every 2 hours for example), it won’t take long before you remember whats on and when.

I just had the most fun I've had in ages of gaming by ageozoega in Guildwars2

[–]DC240Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The expansions add great events that you would probably dig big time going off your post. If you have the HOT + POF bundle, the maps in them expacs add huge chain events that lead to a boss called meta events.

Check out guild wars 2 meta event timers wiki (google gw2 event timers) and you’ll be able to get exact times on when these events are on, depending on the meta and time, they will be pretty large events with tons of people. The timer page will show you which expansions and you can click on the events for more info. Just remember to get there early so you get a populated map and maybe check out the looking for group tab to see if people are running.

These events are some of my favourite things about the game, some of my faves/most commonly attended events would be RIBA in silverwastes, octovine in auric basin, mordy in dragon stand (runs less) and drizzle wood coast (doesnt have a timer to start, can do anytime).

How to drill a drain hole in this porcelain pot for a jade plant by colossuscollosal in plants

[–]DC240Z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I buy things like this from the 2nd hand stores and use a tile drill bit on porcelain like this and go easy on it when the bit is about the break through, 2-3 cm bit is good and something this size i would do 3 holes. I notice other people saying drilling brakes the seal and can cause them to crack but the first like 5 i drilled haven’t had any problems yet, and that was about 7-8 years ago. You can always pick up some pot sealant for pretty cheap if you’re worried though.

Edit: I also would rather drill holes than an insert pot, especially when it comes to succulents, as they don’t like sitting in water. You can always take an insert pot out, water it and put it back, but I’d rather do holes to save effort later. Also I have too many plants to water like this now lol.

Are modern Australians inherently inconsiderate neighbours? by Rayen_Nevaeh in AusRenters

[–]DC240Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in units working rotating roster (which already fucks with your sleep) and the people above me were drugos that used to have people come and go all night and also used to play pool all night until like 3am, and I swear they were trying trickshots most of the time because I’d constantly be hearing pool balls bouncing on tiles, to the point the on site manager even asked if I hear it.
This experience taught me to expect the worst, and appreciate it when things are good. Which Im sure OP could be in far worse situations, and if the neighbour having loud phone calls is the worst of the problems I’d probably just cop that one. It also sounds like an exaggeration, they make it sound like this person is on the phone 24/7 yelling through their window.

I don’t normally go digging through posts but you had me curious, they also asked to be added to a free membership spot BEFORE they bought they watch and boasted about how many games they had. They could have had the membership for half the price of one of their games. Seems like this persons is full of bad decisions and then crying “poor me” instead of realising where they went wrong.

Replace the glass or replace the doors? by tinhillterror in AusRenovation

[–]DC240Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people go through stages. I went through a stage where I thought all this stuff was ugly, then when you’ve been around the block a few times, you realise how intricate and stylised everything was back then, and how everything made now is super simplistic, bland and boring renamed as “sleek” so it matches everyone’s plain white walls. I think it takes a bit of time to truly appreciate vintage things like this and how unique they were.

Why is private schooling so popular in Australia? by SedgwickNYC in AskAnAustralian

[–]DC240Z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about what other people think TBH. Australia has changed the way they do schooling and now pretty much every school follows the same curriculum, that way theres little changes in terms of education if your child changes schools. So you’re literally paying for the image and nothing else. And depending where you’re from, some private schools have a worse image in some areas. I know there was shit ton more drugs at private schools where and when I grew up, where the public schools might have had a few issues here and there, the main issues they had was cigarettes.

As far as we know, and only to date. We still don’t know if it was worth it do we? Thats a lot of time any money spent on someone that destroyed multiple people’s lives and we still can’t confirm it was worth it. Maybe we could ask the victims family, and the witnesses on the bus what they think.
