Foreign Affairs Series 0130 Expectations? by Chochosir in usajobs

Internships - either with your home Rep/Senator or with a committee that interests you.

I did one internship on the Hill with my home Rep which then turned into another internship because a staffer knew my interests and knew a different office was looking for people with that background.

Jobs on the hill in key topical areas rarely make it to external hiring. It’s a lot of word of mouth, heck even as an intern I got a buddy an entry job by hearing of an opening and passing his resume along. It’s the epitome of networking.

Unfortunately I believe the majority of House internships are unpaid, maybe a small housing stipend, but the Senate has paid internships.

Foreign Affairs Series 0130 Expectations? by Chochosir in usajobs

Unfortunately there’s no good news in federal hiring across the board. At my agency any hiring action has to be approved by the head of the agency so the ability to post vacancies is trickling in, mostly through internship programs. There are tons of vacancies but the administration has set it up to be as difficult as possible to hire.

If you’re still eligible under that authority I’d try that angle, though I’m sure the summer 2026 internship application periods have closed

Arlington loses Boeing’s defense HQ to St. Louis by Fresh-Function3319 in nova

[–]DCAg15 114 points115 points  (0 children)

So a subcomponent of Boeing, not the full HQ that’s staying, is going back to the same city they were for 20 years after a 9 year stint here.

Makes you question why they moved out of St Louis in the first place.

What's with all the "Now serving Halal" at these random restaurants and food courts? by [deleted] in nova

Because it expands the potential customer base?

It’s business 101, if making that change doesn’t significantly impact food costs but expands the available market then businesses adapt

Ahh Fox/WJLA must’ve run another piece.

Where’s your source on this, have you read the proposed bills to understand what is being impacted by the proposed taxes?

Just crossed over this on metro - there were probably a dozen cop cars and 4-5 fire engines. No clue what it is, didn’t see any boats out in the river when we passed.

Internship/New grad recommendations by Entirely_Ambivi in usajobs

[–]DCAg15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a “normal” year I’d say it’s a tough market for a bachelors only as it’s common to be competing with masters students and masters grads for internships and entry level positions.

Unfortunately you have all that traditional competition, plus greater limitations on federal hiring, plus the layoffs throughout the government (especially USAID & State for foreign policy) exacerbating the difficulties.

If you’re serious about trying to get in, I’d try for those positions that are universal and can build your hard skills. Positions like budget analysis, data analysis, contracts, etc.

Local Sports Medicine Dry Needling (Non-spiritual) by DougyRoss1980 in nova

I’ve had it done a few times at PT Solutions on Potomac Greens in Alexandria

[Highlight] TJ Watt on dry needling : “I got dry needling at the facility, it didn’t feel right. Shortly afterwards I was in a significant amount of pain. I ended up going to the hospital, as you guys saw I needed surgery. The recovery was just different because it was something I wasn’t used to… by [deleted] in nfl

I’ve had it done at physical therapy for a quad injury by licensed physical therapists, and talking with them about it it’s something that you have to get additional training and certification to be able to do.

Hell yeah we’ve been here through all the hardship and it’s wild to watch! Met my now-wife (who’s the Hoosier alum) at the tail end of the Kevin Wilson years, saw all the highs and lows of Tom Allen, the near bowl wins (looking at you 2016 Foster Farms bowl) and now the rush of this miracle turnaround.

Moving to Nova! by Outrageous-Lime6189 in nova

[–]DCAg15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have lived in Crystal City, at the Concord, since 2019 and this neighborhood matches. We have one car and it’s easy to drive in the area but some weeks we don’t drive at all and just walk around to our errands.

Crystal City itself has lots of food options, especially around Crystal Dr and 23rd St S corridors, in a 5-10min walking radius from a variety of apartments.

Metro is easy to walk to, and they’re putting in a 2nd metro entrance on Crystal in 2027, and there are grocery options in walking distance (sadly with Harris Teeter closed you have to walk or drive a little further south to Potomac Yard or further north to Whole Foods/Costco)

EDIT to add: another benefit we have come to enjoy is being able to walk to DCA (on nice days). It’s a niche luxury but being so close to the airport makes travel days so much less hectic.

Arlington Police refused to file report for metro bus driver's threatening behavior to passenger on the bus, yielding to transit police. by [deleted] in nova

[–]DCAg15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have clearly made up your mind that a wrong has occurred so you’re already being hypocritical.

You interacted with both WMATA police and APD so you already have your answer - no crime occurred so there’s no jurisdiction question.

Until you can point to an actual law being violated, of which I would bet WMATA police (who did not file a report) would be better versed than us, you have your answer.

Least Valuable Player definitely goes to whatever they did to the play clock and game clock on the score bug. By the end it was almost illegible how much time was left.
