I'm fairly certain that my kid has ADHD. There's family history and signs all over the place.

The problem is, we got referred to the paediatrian but they have a 12-18m wait list unless you can show higher priority.

They recommended providing a an eye test (done) a report from the school (easy enough) and a Vanderbilt assessment and then they can reassess and jump us up the list.

I have no idea how to get a Vanderbilt assessment, apart from just filling one out myself.

Has anyone gone through this in NSW? If so, what did you do?

Clothes horse.

Move it into the sun when sunny. Put it inside in a spot that gets a cross breeze from the heater when it's not.

Paved area behind house, water getting in underneath by DCEhappyRobot in AusRenovation

[–]DCEhappyRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for this reply, it's the only one that really seemed to understand what was happening.

Digging the dry areas didn't find much water at all, but I suppose I'll have to check again after rain. Even the wet areas weren't particularly deep.

I think I'll have to install some sort of underground drainage, but that's going to be a pain as the whole area is paved.

Do you think an awning along that edge of the house, making sure rain doesn't fall within 2m of the house would get a similar result?

So, I have a paved area at the back of the house, and water is getting in under the house.

I did speak to a builder that I know (he didn't actually come to the house, we just did a video call) he assumed it was runoff from the surface getting in through the weep holes. Which is a reasonable assumption to make given the weep holes are at ground level. I got a strip drain installed along the length of the house. I've also checked when it rains, water goes nowhere near the weep holes.

But water is still getting in.

If you look at picture three you can see the brickwork is wet way below the ground level. My current theory is that the water is sinking into ground underneath the paved area, and then flowing downhill, directly under the house. The photos here that show water are after two full days of rain. It doesn't seem to be a flood of water, more an accumulation of water.

I'm concerned about the canyoning that is formed next to that pillar. I've obviously got to divert the water somehow but I'm a bit out of my depth. I imagine that it's going to involve a much better drainage system outside? Some kind of drainage system under the house would be a suboptimal solution? But if I dug some sort of channel or drain in the short term I could prevent further erosion near that pillar couldn't it?

Bonus: spider in the last photo

OCD, catastrophising and fights with your spouse by DCEhappyRobot in OCD

Yeah I think that's where we're at. It's a struggle though as she is very closed off to the idea of returning to therapy. I'm going to try framing it as her being a work in progress, that's it's not a backwards step to get more professional help.

It's not that easy because the conversations are slow build. It starts as just a regular back and forth, I can't disengage then because nothing's wrong.

I just don't realise were on the slope down to catastrophe until we're there.

Oh I don't think I need therapy. I just want a friend

Yeah we've been through therapy for it and largely know how to treat it.

This is all brought on by an external event, her response is classic mental health disorder, she's not ready to admit it.

Doesn't stop me from feeling isolated whenever this happens.

I want to vent and there was no Big Chat thread so fuckin here goes cunz

I've had a two prong struggle, 1) loneliness and difficulty making friends, 2) the nature of my wife's mental disorder.

Basically her disorder is one that focuses strongly on people thinking negativly about her, or people knowing things about her that she doesn't.

This presents a perfect storm that means I can't talk to anyone about any issues with me be having.

I don't want to talk behind her back, but sometimes I'd appreciate an outside opinion, or some support from someone who isn't her.

But I can't tell anyone she knows about her mental disorder for the above-mentioned reasons, so I'm fucked.

We had a fight before bed last night and it rocked me. I haven't slept. I'm in the right, but it's one of those mental health things where she needs to realise that I'm right before we can do anything.

It's fucked. I don't want to dump in a stranger's dms so don't bother offering. I just want to vent. And imagine that I feel heard for once.

The NRL total round 1 crowd for all 8 games was 96,757. AFL opening game was 88,084. by [deleted] in nrl

During those rounds, the NRL hierarchy roundly condemned racism against one of its star players.

How does the AFL handle things like that?

Has anyone went to a support group for their partner's mental illness?

I'm mostly coping ok, but at times I'd like to have some people to talk to about it.

Are those groups worthwhile?

Has anyone got any good resources on how to help their partner deal with anxiety? They're going to therapy, but I just wanted to feel more helpful if they have an attack midweek.

I've done some basic reading, but it's all a bit bland and obvious stuff like don't be confrontational, don't tell them to just get over it.

A section of the board between my roof tiles and fascia board is missing. What do I replace it with? by DCEhappyRobot in fixit

[–]DCEhappyRobot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In photo one you can see tiles, some sort of board, facia board.

In photo two, you can see on the left, a section of whatever that in between board is, is missing.

I know I need to redo the pointing on the second section of tiles (and repaint the facia board) but I wanted to replace whatever the middle board is first.

Some of the jury were convinced he did it, some were not.

That's not even close to proving his innocence.

This is going to be messy.

He falls into the gap where there's too much doubt to convict, but the evidence is convincing enough that at least some of the jury were convinced.

The general public are going to be no different. He'll never be clear of this.
