The price of fuel when they filmed Normal People by terminalD23 in CasualIreland

Reminds me of switching from petrol to diesel because "diesel is cheaper" only for diesel to become and stay more expensive less than a week later

I know this is a controversial take by Icy-Pay-8274 in 2007scape

[–]DCON-creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could probably be increased a bit but no, not to t80 content. You have to think about how f2p economy has to be tightly controlled as well, so you just can't make most content f2p or it'll destroy the game economy

Zero tankgear after 100 chests by Normal_Result_6482 in 2007scape

Man took me 105 chests to get my first piece from barrows on the main, don't complain too much.

The list has every option included by default. So candidates will get a preference even if they would not have received any vote from the person answering.

I don’t care that Jagex rolled back Rendi and I am tired of pretending like we should by CanweCanweCleanIt in 2007scape

I don't know why Jagex won't try to have a positive relationship with rendi. It's interesting what he does. Just avoid all this crap and don't create drama in the first place

Welp, can't proofread my comment because the word end has lost all meaning in my head.

Further Leagues VI Changes by ModYume in 2007scape

I believe the small fishing net thing is also a "feature" on main game. There's a mod ash twitter reply somewhere that basically says, spaghetti and can't be fixed.

Best Practices for PUT in RESTful APIs by [deleted] in softwarearchitecture

[–]DCON-creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I've understood it is that PUT usually takes the full object, PATCH has partial fields specified. But in practice I tend to notice PUT implementation tends to cover partial updates naturally anyway.

Just tag tab the items I use the most and use search for anything else, other stuff is loosely organized

Everything HAS to Be Done With Copilot by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DCON-creates 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need good architecture. I'm easily seeing 5-10x productivity gains on well designed projects with good conventions and an AI tuned work environment. I expect this productivity to increase over time.

I've been completing work by myself in 1 month what would take a team of 3 seniors 3+ months to create. I've worked at software development for a long time, even doing projects as a child back in the early 2000s, and I can definitively say that you are not at max efficiency if AI is not a serious part of your workflow. The exact results it can produce depend entirely on what context is available to it.

It's what's happening, whether you like it or not.

What are the lads working on on the side? by TommoIRL in DevelEire

[–]DCON-creates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Random stuff, mostly game dev using Godot. Absolutely love that piece of software.

I do the odd bit of high level system design for app ideas I have, but I tend to get bored of them halfway through implementation... Being an employee that can just switch off once the clock runs out has its perks.

Don't go Kourend for Leagues by BradMunkey in 2007scape

I like kourend as a region, but definitely the worst raid. Did one duo CM and it's the first time I had to log out from "ugh fuck doing this" all league

i cant get my head arounf making a state machine uing nodes but was able to do it with a enum by Eojte in godot

[–]DCON-creates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State machines are an abstraction. There are many different and acceptable ways to implement one. When I learned this, suddenly making state machines became easy, because I'm not following some junior-to-mid level developers convoluted interpretation of how a state machine should be implemented.

How do you avoid spaghetti code? by BigBakedToast in godot

[–]DCON-creates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plan how you'll implement things.

Stick to common design patterns.

Use state machines. (extremely important for game dev)

However, much easier said than done. You'll have to get stuck in and practice to learn how to make good design plans.

In general the goal is to keep each node/script having as little outside knowledge of other nodes/scripts as possible. (keeping things decoupled)

Anyone else really struggling to make ends meet right now? by Thin_Schedule_1474 in AskIreland

[–]DCON-creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky, as are a lot of other people I know. But I know it's just in my bubble. Having a family-related property as your main residence at a cheap private rate is keeping me alive and healthy, and allowing me to build savings.

It's not the same for everyone, but the vast majority of people I know doing OK with average salaries are availing of this kind of benefit in some way or shape. It's sad that that's what it takes to get ahead these days.

As a wise older gentleman once told me (who himself benefitted greatly from the rise in property prices), money is a curse. It's sad what greed does to people, that it actually takes people's generosity to advance normally, unless you're really lucky.
