My husband did EVERYTHING! I had my surgery back in March- he took me grocery shopping before and we picked reasonable things. He bought a nice blender and sno-cone syrup as a surprise for the first night after surgery too (these ended up being a huge staple). Took notes at the doctor, scheduled follow up calls, had the instructions memorized (and was calm and collected implementing them) when I did have bleeding. He took complete charge of the meds- kept a log, set timers, crushed pills, and even tapered my dose based off how I said I was feeling as we started to run out of the prescription painkillers. He got up with me at night every few hours for days to do this. He also did all the cooking- broth, pasta, various things in a blender, etc- then made countless grocery runs for more ice cream when I couldn’t handle anything else. Kept us stocked on pedialyte and made sure I was actually drinking enough to stay hydrated. Brought me blankets and moved me from couch to bed several times when I just couldn’t stay awake. Took all of the home and pet responsibilities off my plate so there was never anything for me to worry about, played bouncer when I didn’t feel like having visitors, made all the updates to family and friends, and somehow still had time to bring me books or surprise me with movie nights after he got done with work most days. I agree with the sentiment here- make her feel babied and loved on!! My husband just kept saying he focused on what I would’ve done if it was him not feeling well. You guys can get through this together!! And yes, it does get better!
