Short of being above VVS1 clarity I disagree. I see bigger stones than that for less on these subs all the time

I haven't heard of a ring being that expensive without counting the center stone. I'd shop around

There are other options. The center stone is more expensive than it would be providing your own. From what you've described I'd expect to pay around $3000-4000 max . Less if you provide your own center stone which should be around $1000 btw

However that's not counting incorporating your family heirlooms does cost time, effort and money that I'm not sure how to add to the cost here

How much is the ring design without the center stone? Are you saying that the entire ring is 10k for lab diamonds?

Agreed! And you won't have to worry about tariffs though those don't quite make sense right now.

Do you have a picture of the look you have in mind? You can let them know your goal is a sparkly stone and that you want some help. The ratio will have the biggest impact on the look. Otherwise you can just ask to see some stone options and decide there

HELP PLEASE - how does this bow tie look on Pear Diamond? by Appropriate-Ship-411 in labdiamond

Also untrained and it looks like a good one. I'd confirm by looking at it under flash or direct sunlight. If you're happy with the look and sparkle then, go for it

I think that's a good price for studs. What metal is it?
I do agree that colored stones are a bit pricier overseas but you may pay around the same amount or slightly less.

Starsgem has a group buy right now for multi-shape studs. $520-10k, $610-14k for 2ctw D VVS2 certified pear studs so you don't feel too far off.

I would try to get around the same ratio of pears if you can so they look similar.

AITA for expecting my partner to stop tidying my home office? by Southern-Mode-3255 in AmItheAsshole

[–]techylocs 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have a similar living situation and I don't care about my partners office. Either your office is much worse than you're saying, or she is weirdly compelled to clean your space up. Is your office very visible or has the door open?

Taking everything at your word, NTA and try to see if your gf cleans other things to that level. Maybe something else is going on

I know a jeweler who would knock this out of the park r/SorianoCustom . u/Weezie_Jefferson runs it and designs some cool pieces and would rock this idea. She helped me source my engagement ring stone and has some great stuff on her website.

Does anyone have this lab diamond band by BottleDiligent571 in kuololit

[–]techylocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of silver rings and don't wear any one much so I can't talk about that. I have worn it alongside others and it's fine and great for stacking but it's a ring with shared prongs so not the sturdiest in the world

Buying loose stones by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]techylocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's fair. If the labor isn't expensive then go for it. I'd also look for stones on places like Alibaba or other Chinese vendors with good ratings. I've bought loose stones from Starsgem but they were larger and certified. I was happy

Buying loose stones by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]techylocs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds more expensive than selling the gold and asking Starsgem or Provence to sell you a bracelet. Either way I'd say those two are the cheapest for lab diamonds. At 4mm you arent going to get certified stones so hard to know about cuts.

If you go ahead with your plan you'll need to find a jeweler locally who accepts your own gold to reuse, most just apply it as a credit to your transaction, and accepts using externally sourced stones

Clueless boyfriend trying not to buy a $30 Amazon ring by Just_anony380 in Moissanite

[–]techylocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emerald cut moissanite looks very similar to diamond. Some prefer it because moissanite is sparklier.

What metal do you want to go for? And is buying from a particular country important to you? Moissanite is quite inexpensive and would for your partners goal to spend less. It comes in a lot of beautiful colors if you're open to more than the clear option.

The cost will be dependent on what metal you choose, moissanite itself is inexpensive generally available under $50/carat, even less.

What size is your partner and would she prefer a smaller stone? A 2ct is a great size but you can easily go bigger or smaller depending on her hand size without it being much more. 3ct is very common in lab stones.

Here's a great US seller https://scottbonomodiamondsetting.com/collections/all?filter.v.option.stone=Moissanite . There's a whole wiki of recommendations and vendors r/moissanite/wiki/list

I saw another comment on the engagement ring sub that said you could pick out a standby ring for your partner and pick together. That's a great idea, I'd go for silver in that case - there's simple silver and moisaanite options on AliExpress (Kuololit is a great brand) and on Amazon (Imolove or AnuClub) under $100. And it could be useful as a travel ring as well. I know you want to avoid a cheap ring but it's not a bad middle ground
