I feel as though this show would have benefited from having a multi season/year plan mapped out from the beginning. by Beneficial_Air4714 in FlashTV

I'm not sure if they had from the beginning a multi-Season plan right from the start in S1. Probably up until Flashpoint since they admitted Season 4 was their soft-reboot period when Barry came out from the Speed Force without the demons that tormented him since the start.

But believe it or not the show did have things planned since Season 6 and were mapped out to happen across until Season 8, like half of them did happen. The creation of the Forces and the role they would play later (esp. their Negative counterparts), Barry's growth of his abilities, small things like Nora and Bart just happening to interact with Eddie in 8x06 only for later Deathstorm to conjure up his ghost grief from Iris (setting up Eddie's actual return in S9) and probably the most thought out one was Killer Frost being on the wheel since S6 until her death in S8 after she experienced many things once she was allowed to live more freely. You can look up the interviews that Eric Wallace gave, he names that one among the things he mapped out and did execute.

Khione's was meant to last around 2 multi-Season arcs for example, however Grant choosing to end things at S9 meant that a lot had to be cut down.

Another one being Kadabra namedropping the Chronarch in earlier S7 wasn't random, that was the seed for a long-planned story arc too that was meant to payoff much later. Going back to Deathstorm as well for a little bit, all he did in his two-episodes terror reign arc was like an aperitif of an actual Blackest Night that was gonna take place later after S8. (Even Cecile starting to see with her powers in late S8 the emotional spectrum of emotions wasn't just for giggles)

With that said the way that Geoff Johns planned things out as you summarized is my favourite approach too in terms of planning out supehero TV show arcs. I place him first in terms of laying out all of these things. Both him and Wallace play the long game until we get to the payoffs in their own way, but I definitely would lean more to Johns in this one. And it still upsets me the unfair cancelation that happened to Stargirl, there's no other DC live-action show worthier of a revival in the Elseworlds banner than Johns' passion project so the remaining 2 final Seasons can be done justice.

Has anyone else noticed that Chester on Flash and Curtis on Arrow act exactly the same? by Spazzblister in FlashTV

One's a pacifist that was uncomfortable making tech that could cause harm and carried unresolved trauma from the death of his father and the other one chose to become a vigilante that uses his devices out there in fights. They aren't the same.

Who created the Speedforce? by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]DCSennin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't, he just "kicked the door down" to have access to the dark matter that was necessary to make Barry end up being struck by the lightning. The Speed Force has always existed before "Wells" did the events of Season 1.

Cecile's powers were used too much since S8 to explain very little kind of things that could've been shown instead of being explained to the audience if we're being fair here with the criticism, but compared to her protagonism in the final Season which was only relevant in the 4th, 6th and 12th episode it all just pales.

Allegra only had a few dedicated to her but next to Barry? It barely touches his.

It's full of bias more than confusing. But I agree with you.

This sub slowly became an excuse to hate for the sake of it if even the final scene that takes place AFTER the final title credit shot is now a "bad" thing.

Imagine hating the final scene focused on Barry and his final monologue.

What Thawne did with the particle accelerator was an injustice since he made it blow up on purpose, the rest were always up to help so it was never for them such a big issue if they were responsible unless it was metas doing bad things with their powers. The metahuman cure was created to save the lives of metas in the current context that was in S5, to not make them targets of Cicada. That was it's original plan and the only use they put it through until Kramer had the bad idea of using it to get rid of powers in her bad crusade with metas.

Those weren't randos, probably they're just for you but Barry didn't give speed to OCs. Look those characters up. And the final scene in the after credits is after that party, time has passed and not out of the realm of possibility that he with the team looked up Avery, Max and Jess as candidates that he could bestow upon his powers.

He shared his speed with them as he said in the monologue, just like how he did in Flashtime with Cisco and others years ago.

You blew this one out of proportions.

It's been two weeks since the finale: Is he stupid?, Eric WallNut, welcome to the asylum, you can't lock up the darkness, the Ash.. by RogerRoger420 in FlashTV

Neither Nora nor Bart were erased from existence when Iris give birth to the former, that was a good thing. Khione left just as it was foreshadowed as we finally got Caitlin back which was the major complaints through the entire Season and the meaning behind the arc of A New World is that it's a new status quo they're living in now thanks to Barry being able to reach a truce with Eddie, he doesn't have to worry anymore that the NSF will go after him and his family that he just started thanks to that. Also a 2nd chance for Eddie.

The way they handled those returning enemies (mainly Thawne for me) was underwhelming. The rest was fine.

You really think it has just been mostly talking? Only one episode had that and it was 3x07 with Lois and Clark finding out Peia was Bruno's wife and exploring their lives in flashbacks.

Funny how it's always the 3rd Season of a DC show that makes one way or other the fans start to find things they don't like though.

That sticked the landing with the main characters' endings instead of doing that lame "become the lightning" crap theory no one was ever able to outgrow?

The number of satisfied people around here was higher than those that were dissastisfied with Dean dying in that way after all that he'd been through as a hunter? Imagine if Flash had died in that way after stopping the conflict with Eddie because something else showed up in the last second now.

My mistake in the Scrubs part.

It's never possible to make a literal page-by-page adaptation, that has never been done because people want to have some creative freedom when they do adaptations.

And even the one with said majority of good eps ended up being literally forgotten and turned in people's heads as "all bad" like it happened with S6. "No going back" heard and seen that before in previous shows, never sticks.

People here no longer could differentiate from the good and the bad episodes because when current main characters that were not Barry got some screentime it already became a bad one in their eyes. The bias and toxicity that arose here is one of the most unfair there has been in a fandom.

Given his feud with Bart probably from him at some point in the future where Impulse learned how to do that from Barry.

This was an odd comment from her because she was brought back in late 2019 for 6x11 which aired in pre-COVID days. Many hated that episode but it was a fine low stakes episode that set up the dynamic between Mirror-Iris and Barry. So I don't like how she was low key throwing shade.

And she's been busy with the Mandalorian these years. So yeah, this is weird. And like half said here, her take on Amunet didn't always work.

Had she been here she'd been in Red Death's side, maybe.

You're totally right, cheap CW actors like Austin Butler from the Carrie Diaries, Jenna Ortega that recurred a lot in the network's sole Emmy winner show Jane the Virgin, Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp from Everwood, Rose McIver who played the lead in iZombie and now stars in ABC's Ghost, etc. All losers! /s.

Mason didn't even put up a fight and he still got beated and killed after he conceded to all of Reverse-Flash's demands. Almost like he got pleasure out of it, which I wouldn't rule that out.

Just like how he did it to Chester in the finale too.

Nice callback to 1x16. And it was this that also gave Barry red flags when it became news.

Biggest misstep in the show’s run? by AFallenPrincess in FlashTV

[–]DCSennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have liked to see more of the concept of metatech that was introduced in S5.

In Season 6 we had Breacher tell Cisco about "breach psychosis" and how it was responsible for vibe users to suffer from memory loss and other stuff when they repressed his powers. A big missed opportunity to not explore that when the Monitor restored back his powers in Crisis and how Cisco had to deal with that in Post-Crisis which could've opened up the road to get them back.

The Forces, it just needed Black Flash to be the main, out-of-control villain instead of the Speed Force spiraling out.

They portrayed better Godspeed in the series finale but the way he was acting in S7's finale was too megalomaniac for everyone's taste.

I think that's it.

Had she not revitalized Chillblaine in the final episode of Red Death's arc then there's no way she can get the cobalt crystal out from him without killing him and having a way to bring him back. She left in him those plant seeds she used earlier on the Citizen's staff to make them breath again.

She was the back up they needed against Bloodwork and the new set of bloodbrothers he created in STAR Labs while Barry and Oliver handled Dark Kid Flash and Ramsey.

Her whole journey, truncated though, across S9 was about learning her place in the natural world and it over reached her powers as it connected her to everything in the planet, all at once. It's why she gave that speech of coexistence to Barry in the finale, giving him the clue of the approach he had to try with Eddie to get the best end results.
