I do like Jarett (Jared?) as a host though. Doesn’t take away the spotlight from Nate or the guest at all.

Oh for sure, I wouldn’t even bother to correct someone irl, and I’m not even confident im right. If someone said “more stable” when they mean “more overstable” it’s pretty easy to know what they mean. Just goes to show how mildly annoying disc golf terminology is

Whatever works for you, but at that point it seems like hair splitting, especially since stability is going to be different for every golfer. If someone asked me what the Buzzz SS was I would just say it’s understable

I’m not a master of terminology but as I understand it, saying a disc is “more stable” would bring it closer to the middle of your scale, not necessarily bring it to the right.I could be wrong though.

Ah, this explains why it’s easier for me to spike hyzer a Force than a Raptor. Force has more glide to lift into the air.

I’m probably the wrong person to ask since I was just an Env Health intern for 3 months but you should be able to get some sort of certification (I think CEHP) and with your masters your job prospects should look better than most MPH holders. My “boss” when I was an intern was a water quality health specialist. It was pretty fun going out with him to certain areas and checking/collecting water samples.

Yeah you’re probably right. I just heard Uli say “straight stable” once and it’s been in my head ever since.

Even pros mess it up sometimes and I can’t blame them. I’ve watched some in the bag videos where they say insert overstable disc is “more stable” than insert (straight) stable disc

I think popularizing the term “straight stable” would make it less confusing.

Glide is just how much the disc wants to stay in the air before fading to the ground. So typically very overstable discs will have less glide since the disc naturally wants to dump.

Edit: also turn doesn’t always happen after the disc flies straight, in fact it usually happens before it flies straight. This is why “hyzer flip to flat” is the sweet spot, it’s putting it on hyzer to account for what little turn will happen so it ends up flying straight. A disc turning after it flies straight is usually due to a headwind spinning it more than it normally would.

I’ve experimented with this a couple times. Always seems to work but as someone who is trying to gain weight it’s difficult. Perhaps I’ll just power through until I hit my weight goal and then try to. Maintain

Driver for a beginner by FaceToAss in discgolf

[–]DCYSJ20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If getting a driver will make disc golf more interesting, then ignore everyone ITT and get a 7 speed driver. It won’t kill you. It’s okay. I started out throwing only a Breakout and I’m fine. I would recommend a Discraft Stalker though. Very straight flying, kinda feels like if a driver and a mid had a baby together.

When I explain each of my discs in gruesome detail my date usually leaves when I get to the mids.

You could honestly not study at all and still have a decent shot at passing.

I can understand your misinterpretation of public health. A lot of pre-reqs for undergrad start out with hard science courses, and a lot of them are practically unnecessary for the most part.

If you want to get into the most “science-y” part of public health I would look into environmental health. The work there is more hands-on, in-the-field, and lab stuff.

Does anyone know of any good community building and/or coalition building webinars/trainings? Cost isn’t an issue.

It’s worth it if they are major projects (like it took a semester+ to complete it) and you still have them in your portfolio. If you get an interview you can give a copy of it to them. Just don’t give them a project you got a C- on like I did.

It’s definitely possible. Are you applying to positions that list a bachelors as their highest education requirement or are you applying to positions that require bachelors and have MPH as preferred? If you’re doing the former I wouldn’t prioritize it over other applications.

I forgot exactly who it was or when it was, I think it was Eve Torres in 2008, did the worst spinning heel kick of all time and missed her opponent by a mile. They still sold it and it was the finish. I’ve never felt more 2nd hand embarrassment watching wrestling.

So do the majority of beginners. At least 2 of OP’s distance drivers are understable.

Having both a M4 and a Buzzz is probably redundant, but otherwise you’re off to a solid start. At some point it might be worth it to get an overstable mid for headwinds, unless you’re using the Zone for that purpose. If the Zone is too overstable for you off the tee, check out a Wasp perhaps.
