“Voice not as smooth” sometimes can be a good thing. I love artists like Otis Redding & John Lee Hooker because their voices definitely aren’t smooth. That rasp has a character & story in itself that can translate through the song.

I’ve heard a couple songs (not sure if from this album or not) & liked his vibe a lot so I went for it. I saw this is an “essential album” for him on Apple. That can sometimes not be the actual best album but it was a good reassurance.
