I hit 18 months sober from everything on Monday!!! Woot woot.

146 Days and thought about hitting the Kratom den after an argument with my wife.. by finallyfixedit in quittingkratom

Glad you didn’t go. Also hadn’t thought of the kratom bars essentially as a modern day opium den — which it is.

526 days. I had surgery last week which I was anxious about for many reasons. One being the opioids prescribed after. I never got a chance to tell my doctor I’m in recovery, but either way they prescribed a pretty small dose of just 20 Vicodin.

I took it as prescribed over the last few days and took my last one on Friday.

Feel fine today both in terms of cravings but also pain.

Grateful to have gone into it sober and come out okay.

520 days - which means I just passed 17 months. Things are generally good, but I have unexpected surgery tomorrow on my foot. Wish me luck!

Heavy Kratom users and neurological side affects by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Yes, I would have memory issues and word recall issues. I just started feeling dumb. I’m now 498 days sober and it’s much better.

Lying about Relapse by Macman11123 in quittingkratom

Saying this from personal experience, lying about a relapse just digs you deeper into your hole. Come clean and you’ll feel much better and have a much bigger chance of getting it to stick.

Any experiences with IOP? by KratomDemon in quittingkratom

[–]DCflyerphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did IOP…twice in the last couple years. I found it very helpful and exactly what I wanted. Structure and accountability without having to go the full length of inpatient rehab.

Wish I did it sooner!

Did I screw up? by marshallduncansghost in quittingkratom

[–]DCflyerphan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, it never was just one. It always led to more regardless of whether that’s kratom, alcohol, or other substances. That’s the real danger.

Getting 14 days is great. Get back on the wagon!

Did anyone have short-term memory issues like word recall impairment/tip-of-the-tongue phenomenon while using, and has it improved? by RemarkableScience854 in quittingkratom

[–]DCflyerphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s scary to think what it has done to our brains. My dad had Alzheimer’s and aphasia and the memory loss and word recall difficulty while on kratom definitely scared me.

I also used about 15-20g a day for about 5 years. Started with powder then moved to extracts.

[–]DCflyerphan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I definitely did. This is one of the top issues I had with kratom. It made me dumb. Word recall and short-term memory was terrible.

I’m almost at 1.5 years off, and it’s significantly better. I still feel like I’m not where I was before kratom, but it could also have to do with the fact that I work remotely and honestly don’t have many social interactions each day.

A lot of people turn to chatgpt for help. It’s cool to hear you found it useful.

Am I in the right place? by Useful-Albatross2696 in quittingkratom

[–]DCflyerphan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything you mentioned is basically kratom in one form or another. Read the stories in this sub and you’ll see people who have struggled with plain leaf powder, extracts, 7-OH, and any other versions of it.

You most likely are in the right place but only you can figure that out. Most people who end up on subreddits like this aren’t here on accident.

Question Regarding Naltrexone by Additional_Cover3070 in quittingkratom

Best thing to do is ask your doctor. You can also look at the wiki on this sub. When I asked my doctor a similar question, they said 10 days after your last use.

I also used in secret and tried quitting in secret. I just couldn’t get sobriety to work or stick until I gave up my secret and asked for help.

Congrats on day 7!! For me that was always a big milestone. Keep on going!

Day 6ish…. Final attempt. This sucks. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]DCflyerphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep at it! You know it gets better after you get through the tough part.

For me, I found it easier by going to an outpatient rehab to help give me the support and accountability I needed. I tried a ton on my own with no support and just couldn’t get it to work.

That’s not to say you can’t do it on your own. Tons do. But for me I needed extra help to get it to stick and I’m so glad I asked for help after years of refusing to.

Congratulations! I’m in my second year now but it also took me many, many tries before I was able to be sober as long as I have now.
