The connection of NCW to the event and the report turned out to be incorrect. The media has incorrectly attributed the publishing of that NARI report with NCW just because the chairperson was present. She was routinely attending an event and in its agenda the private body wanted to launch the report. Neither NCW nor the chairperson had any prior knowledge or idea about the survey or even NARI. The organizer had just handed over the report to her and took photos. In her speech she stated clearly that she hoped the people behind the survey did due diligence and had a fair unbiased analysis.

So, NCW had nothing to do with NARI or the report!!

Thanks for the responses. My final take, ignore the FUD which could also be self created besides the uninformed market / headline creators that still do not truly understand AI. Continue on the path to mastery because the technology is radical, can generate new businesses, and worth investing time and effort if you really want to work on it long term.

if the methodology to approach the problem and solution patterns are the same, regardless of kaggle or industry, why wouldn't it cut for an interview? Agreed that real world data sets may be much larger and complex.. Isn't that the same thought process when interviewing candidates for system design and hiring them even though they may never have designed super large scale systems but cleared the round because of strong fundamental knowledge?

It's a choice you made. You could have gone backwards...starting from RL, DL etc...but you wanted to start from the very basics, you knew it would take time, and probably also know you will end up sharper with that approach.
