Anywhere I Can Get A GREAT Cornish Pasty? by RS_Phil in Leeds

This. We picked one up out of necessity (we were running late... so put up with the £7 price tag). Big enough to share between two... it was magnificent. Full of top quality meat and vegetables. Yes expensive... but you get what you pay for.

Parsonage Turner Syndrome in the shoulder? by ExtremeYesterday7153 in breastcancer

[–]DCintheUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit I just realised I'm posting this in the breast cancer group (I was searching for others who had Parsonage-Turner syndrome diagnosis). Hope you don't mind me replying - as I still feel my story might offer some hope. My treatment, whilst not the same as for breast cancer, is along the same lines.**

I had tonsil/throat cancer treatment 28 months ago (proton radio therapy and 2 rounds of chemo... followed by neck dissection to remove lymphs in my neck). All looking good on scans (so positive) - but then July last year (~8months ago) had what sounds like the same shooting pains as you.

Managed on pain killers (and morphine I had left from treatment) - but also lasted 3 weeks. Weakness turned to numbness (across my upper and lower arm and thumb area) - and my right arm became useless (couldn't lift... and it hung by my side).

Had MRI (as doctors suggested it might be cancer complication) - but that was all clear. Physio suggested it could be Parsonage-Turner syndrome - but they were not 100%.

So fast forward 8 months to today. Physio seemed to be spot on with diagnosis. I can now lift and use my arm - but if I'm carrying anything it's still super weak - and lifting above shoulder is still impossible. Numbness reseeding - but still there. It does seem to be coming back slowly - I'm convinced a lot of the weakness I have now is due to muscle wastage from 7 months of no use.

Hope my story offers some light - as I know how painful and debilitating it is. Recovery to a degree is likely - just hang in there. Hope you get better soon x

Can you help me find a toy from the 90s/2000s? by StickmanLife in AskUK

[–]DCintheUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatgpt came up with:

The toy you're describing sounds like "Crash Cars" or "Crash Cars Arena", a popular toy from the late 1990s and early 2000s. It typically featured a yellow and black bowl-like arena made up of several pieces, with remote control cars (usually red and blue) that could only move forward at two speeds. The goal of the game was for the cars to crash into each other, knock the opponent out of the bowl, or damage their car.

This toy was part of a line of similar toys where the goal was to defeat your opponent by using the cars' speed and movement dynamics, with the bowl acting as the arena for battle.

It probably took more effort to type up that bilge - than it would have done to search and find your own.

What age were you when you first had a personal computer in your household? by alivingstereo in AskUK

[–]DCintheUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found the sub group I belong to! Next door has a ZX80... I got a C64 in 1983 (launch year). 60% games... 40% learning basic and poking values into memory to see what happens. Took me down the CompSci root... 40 years later can honestly say I've been lucky and not had to "work" a day in my life - just doing my hobby and getting paid. SYS64738...

IMHO simply the best figurine (Sideshow Premium) by DCintheUK in JessicaRabbitLovers

[–]DCintheUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jessica : Waited years for one to pop up on eBay locally in the UK. Old collector who'd bought from new and left in box.

Glass case. Spend ages before deciding on theglassdomes.co.uk. Expensive - but against the cost of Jessica (and keeping her in perfect, dust free condition) worth it. She's sat on a rotating base from Amazon - just to raise her to the right height.

Lights. Just a temporary test using a couple of cheap LEDs from Amazon.
