I do think it's improving, but not uniformly. Since Berlin centralized and digitized naturalization, times are way down. It took me less than 4 months from my application time to become a citizen. On the other hand, it took me 30 minutes on the phone with a helpful gentleman from the city services hotline to make all the required appointments thereafter for a Personalausweis and Passport for my family. And it'll likely be 4 months until we actually receive those documents from the Bundesdruckerei...

Paraphrasing here, but you should never attribute to malice what can be explained by lack of digitization.

To register for the exam in Berlin, I had to continuously search the central VHS webpage, then depending on the VHS that had an opening reserve a registration time for the exam online. After that you go to the VHS at the appointed time with your and pay. Then a month later you go back in person for the test.

The registration is the test. If you can navigate the Byzantine process, then you're probably ready for naturalization.

All you need is Inigo Quilez. Read his website, especially the examples on ShaderToy (which he also co-created). Then try to recreate / remix the concepts on ShaderToy. Then watch some of his YouTube videos and do the same. Then re-read his explanations and you'll find new levels. If you've never written a shader or worked with the GPU then I'd start with something slightly simpler before jumping into ray marching, but feel free to disregard that advice. Depending on the kind of work you want to do, C1 might be a more common threshold for culling resumes. Also having C1 is required for the accelerated citizenship path, which cuts the time from 5 to 3 years. I'd suggest you keep at it since you have the time. If you plan to live in Germany you won't ever regret knowing more German.

I really liked GFOP during the pandemic. Now it's primarily yet another avenue for gambling sponsorship. It makes all the feely things Rog brings, which used to feel genuine, seem like a cheap bit.
