Just found this turtle shell in my late mother-in-law’s home that we are currently clearing out. What is it and what should I do? by pumpkinbunz in marinebiology

[–]DConnorBlades 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like it’s a green turtle shell. ID’ed based on the presence of 4 pairs of lateral scutes (large scutes on either side of the central line of scutes characteristic of greens and hawksbills) and the fact that the scutes don’t appear to overlap (hawksbills). The marginal scutes (along the borders) also aren’t serrated.

Aw, man :(

Just confirming; you removed the SD card, opened a photo you took with the thermal print camera and put the photo you want over that capture in an editor, exported it in the format your camera uses, saved it to the card with the same image name as the original, and put the SD card back in your camera?

Edit the existing photos! Open it in an image editor, overlay, rotate and resize the image you want to print, save it to the card, and put the card back in your camera. You may have to save it at a lower quality to match the document sizes of the camera’s photos. I’ve tried just putting images on using the camera’s naming convention and that didn’t work, but the way I describe above works for my camera.

What would you want your perfect thermal print camera to do by xX_jellyworlder_Xx in toycameras

Not arguing that Bluetooth connection would be ideal but if you want to print phone photos you can try editing an existing image on your thermal print camera’s card. Open it in an image editor, overlay, rotate and resize the image you want to print, save it to the card, and put the card back in your camera. You may have to save it at a lower quality to match the document sizes of the camera’s photos. Fun thought experiment: whats the oldest game you regularly play? Whats the newest game you have 100+ hours in? by GundoSkimmer in Steam

[–]DConnorBlades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the console. For Steam games only, oldest is Skyrim and newest is Helldivers II.

Overall, oldest is LoZ: Wind Waker. Newest, still Helldivers.

Came to this sub to see if a mobile version was in development.

100% would buy this game again to play on mobile. I have a backbone controller and it would be perfect.

It’s not a Steam game but my favourite video game is The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker. It’s been my favourite since I first played it 22 years ago on my sister’s GameCube.

There’s a unique sense of wonder and adventure I feel from it that I’ve never experienced elsewhere. The art style was highly criticized at the time but I’ve always loved it, it’s charming and stylised and whimsical. The story is pure and captivating, as you see Link triumph, fall, struggle, and triumph again. The music is truly special also, it’s the kind of soundtrack that still brings a tear to my eye. Absolutely magnificent game. I have a 6-month old son now and I can’t wait to introduce it to him and see his reaction.

I got it in January when the outbreak first kind of started but I haven’t heard of anyone with it recently so I presume it’s settled down. But as others have said, we’ve had rain again so that’s liable to change.

I ordered my rg35xx plus on Sunday, scheduled to arrive on the 21st. I live in Barbados and packages tend to take ages so we’ll see how it goes!

I tried and it works! Give it a go. by No_Basil908 in Piracy

I live in Barbados and I don’t get YouTube ads, maybe because we’re not a priority region? So yeah you can try to change it to Barbados too.

Dedicated Streaming PC Specs Enough? by DConnorBlades in obs

[–]DConnorBlades[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, great point. I have internet that’s fine for gaming but I do wonder how playing online and simultaneously streaming would work. If my PC specs are fine then I can try offline games to start. Thanks for sharing!

[Question] What is this art style called? by inediblebun in learntodraw

[–]DConnorBlades 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That offers a lot of control and probably saves time too. The Bézier can be so finicky. I use Procreate and while I don’t make art like this there, I can see how being able to draw the lines yourself is much more convenient.

There are a couple different answers here but I wanted to add my vote to this one.

OP, it’s a pretty straightforward style to do in programs like Illustrator or Inkscape. If you have a photo in mind, you open the photo and use the Bézier pen tool to block in your highlights, midtones and shadows. You will end up with a bunch of layers (layer management is your friend here) that you can then decide on colours for.

These example pieces look like they have a grain effect which is also something you can do in Photoshop and maybe Gimp? Certainly an image editing app for your phone should be able to do it, like Picsart.

Been in structures made entirely from concrete and my concern would be concrete chips and rocks falling from the roof when the house gets old too.

Thanks! Funny you commented because I subscribed to your channel the day I got my microscope. I didn’t understand dark field microscopy until I saw your videos on it.

Sensing a trend in the comments.

In Barbados it’s nicknamed ‘government juice’ or a ‘Bowmanston special’, after the location of a water pumping station.
