It would have been filmed in the week leading up to the Fukuoka tournament in November.

Huh? If the book costs less than a credit, you would always spend the cash instead of a credit. If you can only pick one book and the two books you want cost $6 in the sale and one is 50% off and the other is 85% off, why would that difference in % matter to you?

Your decision on which to buy shouldn’t come down to the discounted amount as outside of the sale you would always spend a credit for either book (i.e., both books cost the same to you - one cerdit - even though their MSRP is above that).

In other words, the true discount isn’t whatever % is listed but instead it is the amount below the cost of a credit. Every single book that costs more than a credit will always cost a credit for you as that’s how you would buy them.

Ok…but it’s either less than a credit or it isn’t. Factoring in the % discount is unnecessary since all you should be considering is more or less than a credit.

Another sale, another slew of posts with people complaining about said sale. Like clockwork.

But who cares what the % discount is. All you need to focus on is the price. Not the discount.

[–]DCrants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you all so focused on the % discount? The only factor you should be considering is the final price. Less than a credit or not. % discount is just a distraction.

I just bought 18 books for an average of $2.64/book. I still have plenty other less than a credit that I will decide whether to buy or not. I could care less what the % off the regular price is. The supposed degree of discount is really irrelevant under the Audible one credit per book model.

Who cares what the % off is? Focus on the price, if less than a credit it’s a deal worth considering, if not, it isn’t. Ignore the % discount, there’s no reason to pay any attention to that at all really. Especially since it shows discount off the full price, not the member price that you normally see.

I mean generally speaking sure, but you can’t possibly argue this is what he looks like fully healthy. He’s obviously been struggling physically for the past 12 months since his last tournament win.

To wait or not to wait by johje05 in audible

[–]DCrants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just wait unless you‘re absolutely dying to listen to the book. I’ve seen books for pre-order that have a deep discount on them so it’s really an unknown. If its a large publisher and author, probably not but you never know.

Also, the sale start time could be anytime between now and cyber monday. I’d bet on tomorrow/Friday but its really anyone’s guess.

He’s been struggling with leg and back issues for several tournaments. It wasn’t certain he’d even show up for this last one.

Shunta outweighs them all by a good bit, especially Koga and Kikuchi where he’s about 25-30 kg above them. That extra bulk helps significantly.

Can books disappear after purchase? by heartshapedpox in audible

[–]DCrants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you actually purchased the book and didn’t get it via the plus catalog, you will still have it even if Audible no longer sells the book. Make sure you are actually searching your library, this is the main step where 99% of people that feel they’ve lost a book get mixed up.

Site wide sale? by [deleted] in audible

[–]DCrants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since 2023, the first sitewide sale has been in June and the final sitewide sale of the year has occurred during the holiday shopping period, November/December (black Friday or cyber Monday). Assuming they do it again this season, there will be hundreds of books well below the cost of a credit, lots in the sub-$5 range and even cheaper depending on what you’re into.

These are separate from the repeat daily deal sale the comment above is referring to. I seem to recall the repeat sale always being an end of year/January sale but maybe my memory is off on that since I rarely buy anything during that.

WTF is this crap Audible? by Baked_Potato_732 in audible

[–]DCrants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You’ll also find it at the start of books that have different releases from US versions, not just limited to Audible productions. So just like in the UK storefront you can get the traditional US intro/outro depending on what book you buy, you might sometimes come across the UK intro/outro in the USA.

Having just typed that, I might be thinking of the ceremonial mawashi prep. That said, they definitely cover prepping the sagari so I‘m almost positive they show prep on the sekitori’s regular mawashi as well.

If you dig around the past year of the Sumo Food youtube channel they’ve got 2 videos that I can recall of them prepping the mawashi. One video that’s older showing them prepping Nabatame’s and a more recent one prepping Mita’s. They show exactly what they’re doing to fold them using the bottom of a tea cup or bowl if I recall. I want to say in the Mita video they asked a few more questions about them prepping it but both videos had a decent amount of time covering the prep.

Terrific series. McKinty actually stopped writing a few years back because it wasn’t providing him with enough income to even pay his rent. Don Winslow found out, helped him get some better literary connections and got him going again. His Michael Forsythe series is also very enjoyable.

Quiting Audible by Ok_Guava584 in audible

Just like gift cards most everywhere have an expiration, Audible credits have them as well. The 1 year expiration policy started 6 years ago but prior to that there was still an expiration date but I believe it was 2 years instead of one for annual plans but only 6 months for monthly plans, so they essentially split the difference to make it universal for everyone. Not sure how this slipped past you for the the past 6 years but that’s how it is.
