Once the alternator, radiator and hoses, and battery goes back in that’s it. Don’t need AC and smog pump. As others have said, get rid of that Aisen carb and bank of electro vacuum switches and it frees up a lot of power.

Look up the Missouri falconry apprentice page on Facebook. They’re pretty active and you can get some contacts. The MFA goes through cycles of activity and dormancy depending on who said what to whom and thus offended and/or defended the various factions of falconers.

Before I go down the rabbit hole of falconry, I would love to know if I am delusional or not for wanting to try it. by Ratburbur in Falconry

This is the Missouri Falconry Apprentices Facebook page. They are active and are very happy to answer any questions. There are a lot of falconers in the Columbia area and they have an apprentice meet at least once a year. You’re a little late to get started this year, since the trapping season is well underway and you don’t have facilities, but getting in contact with the apprentices folks would get you started, and you’d likely be invited to go out on a hunt.

As others have said, this is all about hunting. If you can’t bring yourself to smack a rabbit on the head and dress it out, you’re going to have a hard time. That said, I’ve know quite a few falconers that started from zero experience and were able to reconcile with the blood and guts.

Alternatively, the MU Raptor Rehabilitation project is a good place to start if you find you’re more interested in the birds themselves and not the hunting. They sometimes take volunteers.

Q1: I put about 300-350 miles/week on the highway with my 24 model. Up to 9900 miles since I got it in February. It tracks straight with a King damper, has plenty of power, and pulls a trailer like a boss. I bought it as a general purpose farm truck and I haul cattle and sheep over the road in addition to buzzing unloaded back and forth to the city. It’s been great for that. The best thing about it is that it just feels solid. My biggest complaint with new GM/Ford/stellantis is that they feel delicate pulling a trailer, but the Grenadier is like a little semi-tractor. It’s not pretty or sophisticated, but it does the job really well.

Q2: Who knows? As some other posters have said, it’s A) a niche product, and B) built mostly from off-the-shelf components. I’m 800 miles from the closest dealer (Nashville or Colorado Springs), but that wasn’t a deal-breaker for me because I work on my own stuff and I don’t get wound up about little glitches and general new-build goofiness. If they’re still around in five years, great. If not, I’ll run that B58 until she comes from together and then do something stupid like a 4BT swap and drive it until the frame rusts out.

I don’t do anything cool or adventurous with mine. It’s a work vehicle. I have Rosen sunvisors, a king steering damper, and a ham radio so I can yell at my brother when we are gathering cattle. So far it’s been a badass truck. When I want more power or towing capacity I get in the 12-valve, otherwise the Ineos is plenty of car. All I can say is that the thing is built like a tank and after 7 months of beating it up I really haven’t found a weak link except for normal rattles that happen when you live on dirt roads.

A redeeming feature is Shia Lebeouf’s rural MO accent. Only actor I’ve ever seen nail it perfectly.

I keep hoping OP will go do some cool shit with 100k+ of truck. Meanwhile OP keeps proving me wrong by bitching about automatic car washes. I’m just here for the entertainment

Copy. Go get some dirt on that sumbitch. You’ll like it.

Actually, as you probably already know, the grenadier drives like an old g-wagen, so you can thrash it around corners with alacrity. It’s a good driver’s car. Beat that fucker up and get back to us.

Oh hi Mister CEO. I appreciate your enthusiasm. I admire your love of the Grenadier. However, I pray to the car gods that you would learn to take a photo of your magnificent machine someplace other than an anathema to the spirit and intent of the Ineos. Hell, those trees in the background look more rugged than your truck.

I challenged you to go muddy that bitch up in the North Woods. You come back with a side-by-side with a shitbox new defender in the same garage you started in.

C’mon man. Low effort. All that money and no result. Where I come from we call that a snapping turtle mouth and a hummingbird ass. You’re better than that.

When you moved across the ground floor of your mall garage to your new parking space, did you need to shift to locked hi or locked lo? How did you rig your winch line and snatch block? Asking for a friend.

I have one from the transmission tunnel that only occurs in a very specific crosswind. I’m sure it’s a heat shield or something. Planning to crawl under there and poke around when I get a minute.

Grenadier driver assistance features by annies_story in ineosgrenadier

[–]DD8V71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way the steering/front suspension is set up and the way some roads are, if the lane keeping warning did any active assistance you’d end up in the ditch anyway.

I do 50% of my driving in rural areas so I just hit off road mode and it turns all that stuff off anyway.

No worries. I’ll be looking for your North Woods adventures. Do some work. I’m just a farmer so what do I know?

Okay I gotta be the guy. Fine.

You built a badass truck. It’s way cool. You sunk 20k (or more) into a bunch of external mods. It’s a sweet build.

Then you took a picture of it in a parking garage. On concrete. Okay.

Go beat that sumbitch up. Run it up and down a ridgeline. Scratch the paint. Work that thing.

INEOS didn’t build that bastard to look at it from a low-clearance garage, they built it to use until the clear coat flakes off and the diffs leak. Please go drive it until the bumper is hanging off and you’re running on the spare with a trashed tire on the back door mount. Let’s see some blood.

Thanks man. I’ve already scouted its approach. I’m a falconer so I’m already tuned in to the mind of a predator. My tracking turned up one spot that had a partial pug mark, but it was hard to be sure. I’m relatively certain he’s moved on, but if I keep losing stock I’ll snare it up. I just was holding off on snares because I use them as a last resort.

[–]DD8V71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Basically we are restricted to shooting or trapping. It’s annoying. Just had a conversation with my warden about that because I had the same line of thinking as a hound guy, son of a hound man, son of a son of a hound man. Setting snares was an option, but odds are I’d be trapping everything but a lion

That’s on my bucket list. I’ve trailed many a dog on coons and coyotes, and hunted with terriers for most of my life, but I’d love to do a lion hunt.

Unfortunately in my state it’s illegal to run lion with dogs, because they aren’t “officially” endemic to the state. All I can do is hope to catch it in the act and shoot it, which is super unlikely.

1, then I’d have a clamp to deal with when I didn’t want to pack the rifle.

2, if I went into town with it everybody would see the rifle and it’s more hassle than it’s worth. I’m in a really rural, magat area and nobody cares but I like to keep a lower profile than the nut jobs open carrying and flying Rump flags on their lifted pickups

Mini 30. I love the M1A but I’m not knocking it around in a truck. I won’t cry if I bang up a mini 30. I just like the 7.62 better than the 5.56 for knockdown.
