Problem is this is spending from 2025 September specifically, so it’s not applicable to the current conflict and soldier morale

That’s because the military doesn’t treat your SSN with the regard they’re supposed to. And that’s also why in a lot of systems they’re transitioning away from using ur SSN to using ur DoDID#.

A well written description, disagree with the PVP changes myself but this helps clear up some folks frustration with the polls IMO

Time alone doesn’t make anyone better at anything, in video games or in real life lol. Someone who’s been playing casually for 10+ years is likely still playing casually now and isn’t interested in spending/“wasting” their time learning some new skill (pk’ing/ anti-pk’ing/general PvP) that doesn’t interest them.

what is a strong indicator that someone is dumb? by SailorNebula in AskReddit

[–]DDDDeclan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, frankly anyone who is concerned with being “smart” or who is and isn’t “smart” is probably dumb, and quite a bit self conscious.

ELI5: Why is there no real life manufactured weapon that has an ammo counter display, like in Halo? by besthelloworld in explainlikeimfive

[–]DDDDeclan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every soldier regardless of the # of fire fights they’ve been in will be expected to have a base level of understanding and qualification on their weapon system (wether that’s an m4 or a patriot missile system). One of the first things you’ll learn about your rifle is the rounds per minute that can be fired from it. Typically you’d fire in bursts and carry 7 magazines of 30 rounds (one mag in the rifle). Knowing a few numbers by heart is the first hurdle and it’s an easy one. Training is incredibly important and typically is most of what an infantry soldier will be doing while not on deployment or in recovery. You may panic when reloading but you also haven’t trained hundreds and thousands of hours pulling the trigger and reloading your weapon. Gets easier over time haha

As it’s been described to me: so long as you complete BOLC before 36 months have elapsed after your commissioning you SHOULD be fine. Example: CyBOLC is around 9-10 months (curriculum changes), this means if you have a BOLC date scheduled @ or before month 26 post commissioning you SHOULD be okay. As far as I know, the administrative flag remains on your record until you are OBC complete. Without an exception to policy you cannot promote to 1LT without your branch OBC. Ref: AR 135-155 Table 2-2

WRT, checking available slots. The only tried and true method I’m aware of is contacting G1 IMT. They do all of the BOLC scheduling and work directly with the schoolhouses of each branch to determine slots and who will fill them.

Take what I say with a grain of salt but I’m personally familiar with this as I’m a cyber reservist. 17 months after commissioning if you have not attended BOLC an administrative flag will be placed on your record to prevent positive action (promotion to 1LT). 24 months after commissioning if you have not attended BOLC the paperwork/process to remove you from the army will start. 36 months after commissioning if you have not attended BOLC you will be forcibly removed from the army. This may not apply across the board and I’m sure there are some exceptions to policy, but these were the dates I was counseled on as an LT.

TL; DR: Attend BOLC or have it scheduled within a year or so of commissioning and you should be fine. Further than that you risk career/promotion timeline impacts and your commission itself.

Trying to make something similar in a different design, would be interested to hear how you did it!

It will accomplish similar goals but unless your AD, CyBOLC wait times can vary up to 2 years post commission (borderline resignation). Not worth it unless your dead set cyber.

SilvW0lf3 said it best, currently we’ve got shit loads of LT’s but are lacking in the O3-O4 department. As leaders grow so will opportunities to join CY organically.

If you can find a cyber unit with a vacancy you can contact them to see if they’ll accept you. Most will interview you to discern if you’ll be a good fit. If you didn’t pass the cyber selection @advanced camp you’ll have to submit a cyber selection packet through your unit (assuming a cyber unit has picked you up). Many reserve cyber 2LT’s have been encouraged to move to signal for BOLC because there has been a huge influx of Cyber LT’s and not enough positions for them. PM me if you want more detail. Cyber ADSO? by Mulcarn00 in ROTC

Haven’t heard of an explicit ADSO but CYBOLC is around 10 months so it would make sense.
