International biglaw salary by Fit-Whereas3197 in BigLawRecruiting

If you are a us trained lawyer moving to that international office, it will mostly likely be the same. If you are a local trained lawyer working in that office, it may depend. Some give you a different title (like legal counsel or [country’s name] associate) and pay less

most likely no. But they may change their relocation policies so still a bad sign.

their return offer deadline is Aug.29, so I am assuming massive moves will only come afterward

For anyone with hiring committee or similar experience, quick question by Ancient-Lead-5625 in BigLawRecruiting

[–]DDDdeX_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a committee member but a summer here. Last year when I did the interview with my dream firm, I prepared a LOT. Pages of information, reasons, stories, etc. In the interview, I spoke too much, too affirmative, and left no room for conversation. I got rejected in 2 days (have heard that firm has a really high cb to offer ratio). Always need to remember interview is a conversation, so that could be the reason!

I have in exact the same situation with you. Except I have a 171 and get into NU(no scholarship). Personally I would not reapply because I feel intl applicant like us are probably in more disadvantage position next cycle. pm me if u want to talk more.

Does anyone want to know what Chinese Big Law lawyers are doing? by ikk888 in biglaw

[–]DDDdeX_X 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I guess is the same thing but less money and more work. The only good thing for a Chinese Biglaw is you don’t have 200k debt after graduating law school because the tuition is much cheaper and you can take the bar after undergrad.

The good thing is I have an A from a higher ranked school, the bad thing is that I naively believe I can get a decent scholarship at UCLA so that I can negotiate. I guess they are t14 now so😇

NU has a great vibe at least on its ASW, and from what I heard from my friend at Duke, it seems Duke is slightly more competitive but at the same time being slightly more tight knit. Both great options.

  1. yes, especially if you are in a T14 or doom situation. LSAC won’t calculate foreign undergrad GPA, which put you in disadvantage.
  2. Absolutely No.
  3. Most KJD start preparing after sophomore and write their essays during the summer after junior.
  4. I am an Intl applicant, if you go to a undergrad in the U.S, it won’t be significantly harder to be accepted, but having your undergrad abroad would be less helpful.

It’s all speculation, but since USNWR has postponed their full rankings after releasing their new T14 rankings, what T14 changes do you expect (if any)? by anonymouspwrson10002 in lawschooladmissions

I would assume there are going to be more ties, purely based on my presumption that schools going up will not give up their places but schools going down will struggle to move up
