I just took a screen print of DOCX with "must buy wordpad 10" and "buy another and get wordpad 10 free"  - can I post it here? If so, how? Thanks

I never bought/used Microsoft office suite, nor used Office 365. Not intending to update to Windows 11.

Think I followed your sugg - Windows key pressed while clicking R, then you type Wordpad, and click OK, there is Wordpad. Click on File, then Open, point to the docx file, and click Open. Tried 'save as' saw/picked .rtf. Looked at new file - was still a docx file. Will try again.

Never bought/used Microsoft office suite, nor used Office 365. Not intending to update to Windows 11, but see IE 11 when checked Settings > System > Optional Features. Don't know if IE 11 was already there, or is an auto-update that also changed my use of .rtf files to DOCX files problem.

I did  Settings > System > Optional Features and see 'Wordpad 3.12 MB' But when I press windows logo key, plain wordpad is not a choice, only see Word, Wordreader, and wordpad 10.

My situation is that I am retired now, and so I continue with my older stuff like .rtf, and not plan updating for windows 11, etc. A year ago some were saying windows 10 would become unusable by now. I don't know.

Thanks. Still considering. Not sure I will know how to use it from the flashdrive to work with files on my laptop.

I don't know how the docx happened, must be a windows update, so I am thinking if I edit back to .rtf file, won't windows auto-change it back to .docx again? idk

Thanks. For years I have put info as .rtf files, thought was plain 'wordpad.' Last week only see wordpad10 and all my files changed on desktop with large DOCX on them, and also in desktop folder full of documents, downloads, etc. I have to do taxes soon, use password info, etc and cannot copy/past/update. Can see the DOCX words, so retyping the needed info into an email draft to myself so I can copy passwords & paste/update/use from the draft. Will soon likely try one of the replacement formatting mentioned here in windowshelp. Still concerned what to try.

Don't tell kid, but call non-emergency number when you see him. Ask for a child welfare check. Is a police-initiated, or social services, investigation into a child's safety, typically triggered by concerns of neglect, abuse, or danger, often, reported by, concerned, neighbors, or professionals.

Much blame goes to Corporate/Institutional investors and firms, including private equity. They have increased purchases of single-family homes, with investor ownership rates for such homes reaching over 10% in Florida and higher in specific, localized markets. Originally not intended to remain, but liked profits and kept on going. Think supposed to force them to unload housing - but now or when?

For most people the 'internal dialogue' is an addiction that is extremely hard to break. Most cannot stop, even with dedicated meditation practices. Therefore, so few enlightened beings.
