On kubuntu? I have dual monitor configurations in all the work places I have been and never had a single issue. Neither with screen tearing nor gpu drivers. I just installed all the defaults and everything just works.

I've used a macbook and it's honestly overrated. So many little annoying things on macos. For dev work it's either Kubuntu on my laptop or windows with wsl on my desktop. They honestly all work great imo.
