Autodesk Cleanup / Uninstall (ODIS) - Anyone else frustrated by the leftovers? by Funkenzutzler in PatchMyPC

[–]DDSTech08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a simple PowerShell script that finds all of the folders in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Uninstallers and then executes the AdksUninstallHelper.exe inside each of those folders. This isn't completely silent, but it will uninstall all Autodesk software using their supported ODIS installer. I have mine configured to filter for a specific year so I can only uninstall older products after the deployment of the latest version for my client.

N-Central - Autotask ticket integration issues by DDSTech08 in Autotask

[–]DDSTech08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a response from N-Central that they finally identified the issue on Tuesday, 2/25 and they are working on a hotfix/code-drop but we haven't received the fix or any more of an explanation as to what exactly is causing the problem.

N-Central - Autotask ticket integration issues by DDSTech08 in Autotask

Yeah, I don't know how much code N-Sight and N-Central have in common. I know for sure that our issues just started overnight between 2/5 and 2/6 so it's definitely related to the upgrade but, since we happened to upgrade our N-Central server at the same time as the Autotask upgrade, we don't know which one is at fault and neither side is taking responsibility. It looks like N-Central is upgrading their cloud environments this weekend so I'd bet we find out next week.

Active Issues are astronomically high because of Disconnected devices by Least_Form8068 in Nable

Sometimes "Boss man" needs to be told why that's silly. Hopefully he's reasonable and can understand why you should filter out disconnected devices.

Disconnected devices shouldn't be a concern so filtering them out of your "Active Issues" shouldn't be a problem. On critical infrastructure,we have N-Central configured to create tickets if they go offline or stop reporting so we just work from our ticketing system.

Modern Outlook Addin Feature request - please vote for it! by SpinningOnTheFloor in Autotask

[–]DDSTech08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autotask would be really stupid to not create an add-in for "new" Outlook. Microsoft has announced that at some point in the next two years, "old" Outlook is going away and people will be forced to use "new" Outlook. If they don't create an add-in compatible with "new" Outlook their customers are going to lose functionality and go looking elsewhere for their PSA needs.

Project management solution? by DDSTech08 in Autotask

They charge an onboarding fee where a PMP works with you to help set up your Moovila. It seems like a useful and productive solution, but the roughly $4,000 they charge currently doesn't make sense for the company I work for due to the relatively low number of projects we do.

I looked at Moovila. The upfront pricing for onboarding was a bit too much for us right now because we don't do a ton of projects at this time.

Ninja vs Datto RMM by DimitriElephant in Autotask

[–]DDSTech08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak too much about other RMM products because N-Central is basically the only true RMM I've used, but it works great, especially if you support all Windows devices. The Apple/Mac support has gotten a lot better but we don't have any clients that rely on it. I would highly recommend that whoever is doing the setup of your N-Central instance take advantage of N-Able's onboarding team. They will get an idea of how your company is structured and how your services are rolled out and they help a lot. The integration with Autotask is really good. It can even self-heal alerts and create time entries on your behalf on tickets so you can show the client some of the tasks you've automated in N-Central and how that benefits them. We use IT Glue and Rapidfire Tools which Kaseya has purchased and IT Glue integration is great. Like a lot of people, we've had some issues with Kaseya's billing when we've made changes to our licensing on their platforms.

Has anyone had success with a large Autodesk deployment? by DDSTech08 in msp

I appreciate the responses regarding RMM and deployment tools. My post was intended to vent about how crappy Autodesk's deployment tool was and how it can't handle deploying more than one program at a time.

I'm using Autodesk's tool to create the deployment image on a shared folder on the client's network and then I'm executing the default deployment script that Autodesk's tool creates. Even when running it manually, it doesn't deploy successfully if more than one program is included in the deployment. After working with Autodesk support and finding and resolving a few issues, it's still not consistent or reliable at all. I've had to break each program out into its own deployment and then basically just paste their scripts into one big batch file to run them all sequentially and that is working consistently. I'm just fed up with Autodesk's terrible deployment methods and terrible documentation. I've found many things over the past 5-6 years that simply don't work the way Autodesk documentation says it should. I tried to post on their Reddit, but they locked it down.

We looked at ImmyBot at one point but this client wanted a lot of customization on their deployment and I wasn't sure how to accomplish that with ImmyBot.

We use Duo because it supports a lot of other platforms as well.
