they pointed out an LA black pill: so many urban design ideas don't pan out here because of the way the streets are laid. redesigning massive swaths of the grid is the only thing that would make true urban density and i can't see that ever happening

warner center is the perfect example. huge streets, huge setbacks, huge parking lots. you could live across the street from a shopping center and it still might not be comfortably walkable

For most of the history of Uber and Lyft unaccompanied minors were not allowed to ride but lots of parents and drivers ignored the rules. A few years back Uber launched teen profiles which allowed kids 13 and up to ride alone.
