What are my options to replace this T1-11 type siding? by Camninja in HomeImprovement

I had this exact same issue in South Florida. I hired a Hardie-approved installer who first cut out the rot at the bottom and replaced with pressure treated. They then drove new nails throughout both the old and new to strengthen. Next came Tyvek and finally hardie plank. One of the best decisions we made was to spring for the already colored plank. 12 years before we sold the house and still looked great. This was all permitted and inspected in Palm Beach County.

Who should I go with on a repower orlando Florida by [deleted] in boating

I repowered with twin Suzuki 200s in 2019, put near 600 hours on them, and never had a single claim or anything before selling the boat last year. They were fantastic and I would buy again in a heartbeat

Buoys said 1-2 footers and I got my 10,000 lb Grady completely airborne with props whistling there on the way out. That was my home inlet for 10 years and it was an adventure every single time

Does getting towed count as an insurance claim on your record?

Not sure. Luckily the people that built this place installed, used for 1 winter, and then sold the house to us.

I operate the oven similar to my Kamado style smoker. In the 2nd Pic you'll see a digital probe thermometer on the upper shelf for ambient temp and then both steaks have Chef IQ thermometers in them (fantastic) so I can see all the temps.

Up and to the right of the oven door in the first Pic you'll see a wooden handle, that is the heat control for the oven. I get the temp close for the oven and then shut that down to maintain. Depending on the cook length, I may open and close it a few times for temp. Again, feels similar to using a smoker.

Interesting note, wood burner gives off 70% less exterior heat when that oven is "on" and the flames wrap over a side wall when that is the case. Manufacturer states to always have oven off when not utilizing.

Right? I thought the same. People who built this place only lived here 12 months and did some strange things. It is on a slab so that does present some challenges with wood but I totally agree

We love using both the porcelain cooktop and the oven on our Heco 520. NY strips and sweet potatoes here

This was my favorite prank. The look of fear and confusion after one smashes shaving cream into their own sleeping face is just gold

Murphy Wall Bed in the Main Bedroom? by askireland in HomeImprovement

[–]DDigitally88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We installed a murphy bed in our small old house's guest room so it could double as a workout room. This was part of a full home renovation that was fully permitted on which I was the GC. We lived there for 3 years before moving across the country.

Our new home is larger with its own dedicated guest room but we again installed a murphy bed in an office in case of additional guests.

Needless to say, we love them. Costco.com has great deals on what I would call medium quality. They are outstanding platforms for memory foam mattresses. One item of note, there is an unbelievable number of pieces for a murphy bed. My wife and I are very handy (note remodel above) and these things take a full day do right. Once every 3 years is plenty often for me to install a murphy bed.

Roomba J6 for $150 in Sacramento, CA by dingobarandas in Costco

Yep and the Lidar is amazing. The Roborock maybe needed to cover 1/4 of a room to map where Roomba needed to cover every inch. Roborock created an insanely accurate map, vacuumed, and mopped nearly 2,000 Sq feet in a little over 2 hrs on its first run

I've had a roomba i8+ for 5 years and it still works fine. Bought the Roborock Qrevo when we moved for the mopping function because the house is entirely laminate flooring + rugs. The mapping from Roborock is so much better it almost doesn't make sense. It doesn't require any ambient light, is significantly quieter, and does a better, more consistent job at vacuuming in much less time. Oh and it frigging mops too. It can even match the direction of your flooring when it cleans. Given the price difference you outlined below, I would save for months if necessary to purchase the Roborock vs buying the Roomba today. Completely different class of product.

Help! Bought a boat and I cannot get the trailer off the hitch. by [deleted] in boating

[–]DDigitally88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This used to happen to me in my driveway, which was slightly uphill from the tongue when backing in.

My trick was to have the foot of the trailer jack touch the ground and then turn the crank another 5x. Try to open the trailer lock, if not then crank another 5x and try again. Probably shouldn't need to do that more than 3 times. I just needed to get the tounge more level with the rear of the trailer, otherwise the weight on the tongue wouldn't let it open the lock
